This time last year, I assume we had topics like 'the Dubs are unbeatable'. I do recall some fellah, somewhere along the line, gushing about three or more in a row. Climb the foothills before you take on the mountains

Have i missed something but how can anyone say Mayo and Kerry are the only serious contenders..the bookies have Dublin odds on favourites to beat Mayo so its nonsense to rule them out.

Dublin, Mayo and Kerry all have the same chance of winning the big prize, all depends on how each teams perform on the day..nothing written in stone yet.

I would only be surprised if Tyrone lifted Sam this year. Tyrone close down so quickly and I admire that part of their game. Looking forward to the 2 semifinals

What you've missed - is TYRONE!

How you can just dismiss Tyrone (who I fancy strongly to beat Kerry in the semi-final) is beyond me? Tyrone are a semi-finalist on merit and with a massive momentum. We've seen Mayo, Dublin and Kerry at their best but of all the teams actually left, Tyrone are the team with probably the most capacity to improve and surprise the lot of us, well some of us!

Well James H, the title of the thread suggests serious contenders but Tyrone are the clear outsiders of the four teams left IMO. You believe they have a good chance of going all the way and thats fair enough.

Over the last number of years Kerry Mayo and Dublin have been consistently in the semi finals and final. They are winners of their provincial championships and i believe have much better players then Tyrone at the present time.

I would be shocked if Tyrone manage to beat Kerry and then beat the winners of Dublin/Mayo and I believe most GAA fans would have them as the 4th best team left.

I may be wrong but im not sure even Tyrone fans are seriously believing that they can go all the way this year.

You of course are entitled to your opinion in saying they have a good chance of beating Kerry, im sure Mickey Harte has a plan up his sleeve for us but I really do believe this Kerry team are really focused this year and can book a place in the final.

Mayo??????????????????????????????// no disrespect, Dublin will not fear them, and when Mayo beat us,Donegal, Dublin where happy, Mayo is now under serious pressure to deliver, and get a first Sam since 1951, Mayo have come to croke park many, many times since 1951, and most of the time if we are to be serious Mayo where taken apart, and they headed back west with nothing, this is the time of year when Mayo start to get nervous, fall, apart, the Curse?????????????, how they have suffered since 1951, God knows if any team deserved Sam, well its Mayo, and i wish Mayo all the best, i believe Dublin, Kerry are 1, 2, followed by Tyrone, if Mayo can keep it all together, beat the mighty Dubs, stay, calm, focused, believe, believe, believe in themselves forget about the past ,curses etc, then and only then will they march on to the promised land, COME ON MAYO, ITS BEEN FAR TOO LONG, YOUS CAN DO IT........................................................

Seems agreement so far on following points -

1. Dubs have to meet a real team yet and have their new defensive system really tested

2. Kerry on easier side of draw on paper and will have gained vital match time from replay against Cork

3. Mayo have found a ruthless streak at last and have learnt the knack of scoring though defence remains to be really tested

4. Donegal looking tired and have not figured out how to overcome their own blanket creation when opposed to it

5. Monaghan good defensively but have they the guile to improve their forward play and will their form continue in Croker

6. Tyrone are coming, slowly but surely and could be a test for any team yet

7. Cork are just Cork. Classy at best but totally unreliable

8. Galway are not bad but are not that great either

9 Kildare, Fermanagh, Sligo & Westmeath ....... also rans!!!

Well lads this summary from five weeks ago still holding up good. Dublin still to meet a decent team but that now to change on Sunday. Kerry and Tyrone have done what was expected of them and I expect Mayo to do similar. So it's bye bye Dublin for me and a Kerry v Mayo final.

Am I allowed to use a profanity???????........but f*****g hell what a finish to a game. Mayo in reality a much better team than the Dubs but they got to believe that from the start in the replay. OMG never shouted at the TV so much. Roll on next Saturday.
