New Laois Football Manager

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Right folks, serious lack of discussion on the Laois page these days, I suppose we are all abit depressed about the state of Football at county level. Regardless we have a new manager to search for, who are we looking for? In House, Outside, another journeyman? Who do we want to see get the job and who do you think the County Board will approach?

Please no journeyman. Any guy who has had no significant success in other counties is unlikely to turn Laois around. Either a completely new face with NEW ideas or a strong internal candidate who can be supported by all the clubs. There are not any proven successful managers available I suspect, (I mean managers who have won all irelands).

who I would like and who we get is two very different things, in a previous post I said I would love to get Kevin McStay I think the county needs a high profile manager morale is at an all time low but there is no chance of him taking on a county like Laois, I believe it is nearly a done deal that it will be someone from within the county which is a step back. I don't believe there is anybody at this stage from within the county good enough for the job. Maybe Michael Dempsey a Laois has had great success with Kilkenny hurlers and is highly taught of would be in tune with what has been going on in the county

Would that mean that Sean Dempsey would come along with him? If so, that would be good news, in my opinion.

Heard Jack Sheedy myself now. He would be a fine man to get in I feel.

Jack Sheedy not sure I like the sound of that we would be starting to get very close to the Journeyman word if that is the road we go down. Don't really see what he could bring to the Laois team.

Jason Ryan for Laois? Wouldn't be too surprised if he wanted a break and even if he did want another Managerial gig the Tipp job might be more enticing considering the different stages both counties are at and the travel.

If it true I think it would be a great scoop, there is nobody within the county is up to the job at the moment. Caffrey would have played the game and has 4 leinster titles as a manager with Dublin. For me I would be happy if there is any truth in it

Our lads will have to practice pointing at scoreboards if Pillar gets it.
