Yeah the Dubs Blue Stars v Dublin. Usually New Years Eve or New Years Day, can't remember. Last year or 2 half of the Blue Star team never showed up and players from the host club had to join in. Think it was Round Towers Clondalkin last year.

Superclub? Are we talking ability or size? they are the not the same thing. What I regard as a super club is a club with a very large membership, catering for all codes and sexes. There are plenty of "super" teams from smaller clubs.

There is a misconception here sometimes with the relative strength of club sides versus county sides. On occasion Club teams in their preparations for provincial or all Ireland series games have challenge games with county sides. Now the county sides are in the middle of pre season and are giving fringe players chances in these games. The club teams are treating it like an All Ireland and a notable scalp to take. Would they turn over the same counties in the height of summer? I don't think so. There is a massive gap between county and club.

I would say the top clubs sides in the country at the moment, Corofin and Vincents, would only beat the very weakest county sides, Carlow Waterford & Leitrim. A step up to even the likes of Wexford, Antrim and Longford would be too much for any club side.

arock no as I was saying I may have picked the wrong term. I meant club good enough to beat a county team

I dunno lads, I think club to county is a huge step. It's a much bigger jump than going between grades junior to inter to senior. A jump from senior to inter county would be like a jump
from a weak junior to a good senior level in club championship terms. Maybe an exception for the likes of the worst Div 4 teams.

Not sure about football but the only 3 club teams that i could see competing in Hurling are Ballyhale, Thurles and Portumna. Ballyhale maybe the only one. Probably on the same level as a team like Wexford/Laois/Offaly/Kerry atm
