Very few club teams would beat an Inter-County team. Serious step up in quality and pace.

Makes me laugh when ye see the question name superclubs then ye see answers like Ballymun!! How are Ballymun a super club? They dont hurl in any way shape or form so based on the fact they have footabll all to itself they are not exactly dominating Dublin or winning all Irelands.

Finnbarrs of Cork are certainly a superclub winning both hurling and football all Irelands

DoireCityFC, I would agree that we haven't been as strong in the last 2-3 seasons but we made the AI semi in 2013 and were within an asses roar of making that final, and probably would have. The last 2 seasons has seen a bit of transition due to injuries etc but I reckon with a lower representation of players in the Armagh squad you will see us push the Ulster this year. The Kernans are still top class players and there are at least 4 players who should be on the Armagh panel that are not for a variety of reasons, mostly personal choice by the way. We have strolled Armagh a bit in recent years, really since we lost to Pearse Ogs, and in many respects this has had a major negative impact at Ulster stage but I genuinely believe that there are a number of AI's sitting there in the current squad, with a few fresh minors coming in over the next 2-3 years to spruce it up.

Our club once took on the Kerry hurlers and the less said the better. Underestimated them completely.

WildPundit what was the score and is your club considered one of the greats? Could you have beaten them if you didnt underestimate them?

DoireCityFC I think the ref even stopped taking down the score we lost by so much. I know they scored at least 7 goals and probably 30 odd points. We were lucky to score 10 points or something around that anyway.

No we are not one of the greats our club just arranged it as part of a training weekend couple of years ago during the summer. Kerry were better than we thought.
That was around 2005 or so and Kerry had some pretty handy hurlers.

Our management told us at the time we should be ashamed of ourselves so you can see how pretty p'd off they were that we got beaten by the Kerry hurlers!!

What if the AI winning club was from the AI winning county, who would their mutual players play for?? Like if Cross were to play Armagh, who would the Cross players play for?

Vincents , Corofin , Cross et al would not beat Carlow or Waterford. People need to realise how big the difference is. In fact I think Carlow would beat these sides with ease ; what do people think ???

I would like to see the club play against the rest of the county team if that was the case.

I think quite a few clubs would beat carlow.....football and hurling

I'd say Portlaoise would give the rest of Laois a good game. There are only one or two Portlaoise lads on the county panel anyway so it would be Portlaoise v Laois. Portlaoise are very dominant in the county championship.

From speaking to a lad on the Carlow team he said there are 3 or 4 clubs in Carlow that would beat the intercounty team. Too many lads opting out of playing

Some counties like Dublin and Mayo already have long-running annual charity games in which a county XV takes on a club championship selection.
