Kieran Bergin Tipperary is from a farming back ground.

Bobby Ryan & John O'Brien are others who I think have farming back grounds from memory.

The farmers are always stronger hurlers!!!!!!

Remember there were a couple of TV ads for farming products in the 80s or 90s that had GAA men in them - was it not Joe Rabbitte who advertised fluke protection? He was a farmer anyway. I know there were also ads for products by lads who weren't farmers (think even DJ and the baul Spillane got in on the act though may be wrong).

Yes! I remember those, for Ivomec I believe. John Fenton, Joe Cooney, and Bobby Ryan also got a run in those ads as well, I think.

Tomás Mannion was a farmer and a rock of a man. If we had him (year out) and Jarlath Fallon (injured) for the 2000 all-Ireland that team would have been looking at 3 all-Irelands in 4 years instead of 2.

Darren Fay isn't a farmer. He fitted kitchens for years and then ran a pub for a while.

John Fenton had an ad for one of them and they kept showing his classic goal v Limerick. That was painful. I hope the animals his product was dosing fared better.

Slayer - had acknowledged this post yesterday but either the moderator isn't from a farming background and thought my post about the best way to dose a heifer/bullock with a dosing gun was either taking the proverbial or bordering on animal cruelty though it was neither and probably a common practice the length and breadth of the country.

In limerick Oldtourman were or are Mike O Brien and Johnny Flanagan farmers? I think Paddy Reynolds the Meath footballer is a farmer.
