Galway will be dissapointed to only score 8 points from play.It is a poor return,although every score is hard earned v Kilkenny.Joe was poor enough for large parts,but where was the other forwards chipping in with regular scores?Donnelan scored a couple,but you havnt a hope scoring so little from play.It seems apparent that if Joe is kept quiet,Galway will struggle.There is still too much relience on the man.Kilkenny have 6 scoring forwards.Tipp 3/4.If one or two lads have an off day,some of the others will take up the slack.Davy Glennon looked like a minor player,in amongst that Kilkenny backline.Galway battled gamely for duration of game,but for the last 25 minutes,they lost their shape and composure,and Kilkenny did what they do best.Go a few points in front and shut up shop in the backline.Crowd the space and let their midfielders and half forwards retreat back.Smother the Galway forwards,making it extremely hard to penetrate.Once Kilkenny have a 4/5 point lead with 15 mins to go,there is no better team to hold onto that lead.Eventually the opposition get worn out and a couple of Kilkenny scores will break their spirit.It happens time and again.Galways season is not over yet though.Thankfully,they can only meat the cats again in the final.I dont think Galway have enough to win it but if they can get back to the final,revenge will be a powerful factor.
