I'm really looking forward to seeing....

Donegal in action this weekend.

For the first time in yonks I've a weekend off work rather than just the one weekend day, So I thought what better way to start my weekend of gaelic football with a trip to Clones to see Derry and Donegal contest the second Ulster semi final.

And as the title of the thread suggests, I'm really looking forward to seeing how Donegal in particular play.

I've watched them from behind the goal in Croker on a few occasions and in Ballybofey in the recent drawn league game, But this will be the first time I've watched them from a terrace/stand being able to have a good view of the pitch as I wont stand behind the goal. I hope to see first hand they approach the game from a completely neutral perspective for a change instead of having my Dubs tinted glasses on.

I am also very keen to see McBrearty in action (hopefully he will be passed fit to play). Likewise Ryan McHugh.

Roll on.

Will you be up in Clones early wayno? I will listen out for a Dub accent in The Paragon if you are there for a few scoops beforehand!

Do you have Sat Nav waynoI?

:-)

Haven't been to a football game in a while, but did see Armagh a few times between 2002 & 2005 and was impressed by how physically strong their players were. Francie Bellew was a beast. You'd look at him thinking he would wrestle bears, but the bloke coupld play football too.

Donegal did well v Armagh this year. They look a serious outfit.

Sounds like a drinking competition where both of you will do your best to beat the number of scores (with pints) from the 2011 All-Ireland Semi Final?

Same as that. I hated Doengals style the last few years but they were so impressive the last day

Good to hear Waynol.
Looking forward to it myself.
Problem is Donegal pretty much wer doing the same last year but when never allowed to go over board .
Jst enough to win the game then back to defend.
For example the game against derry last year.
defensive first half. First 15 minutes of 2nd half that blitz derry but once they got the lead it was back to defensive mode again.
nice to see it shaken up tho now.
hope you enjoy the match. I'll be with the noisey ones singing in the square across from supervalue.

Enjoy it Wayno. should be a good contest and as you say you'll learn a lot about donegal by watching them from the side.

It's the battle of the Ls in Drogheda with Louth v Leitrim. The smallest county in Ireland takes on the county with the shortest coastline and smallest county population. Should be an epic Wee battle.

I hope you don't turn out to be a jinx wayno!!!

If we lose I will hold you personally responsible & make it my life's mission to make your remaining days miserable.

I think a lot of neutrals including myself will be looking forward to the Meath v Westmeath game. It has all the makings of a close encounter with the winner possibly only emerging in the last few minutes.

Tyrones first ever championship outing against Limerick. I know the qualifiers come in for a lot of stick at times but they do throw up intriguing ties like this that the old provincials never could.

Looking forward to the Meath v Westmeath game obviously. Especially to see if the stick the Meath camp has been getting is unwarranted. I hope it is.

Am strangely looking forward to the Dublin v Kildare game as well. Just to see if maybe just maybe Kildare can put it up to them. Great weekend ahead in Gaa terms either way

Mickey Harte's (probable) last hurrah. He's in his 13th season with the seniors - easily the longest tenure of any current manager - and has had c.25 unbroken years in charge of Tyrone sides at minor/U21/senior level. He's also one of the greatest and most successful managers of all-time.

Still, everything is pointing to this being his final season, which would mean that his next defeat would be his last as county manager. I don't expect it all to end against Limerick on Sunday, but I do believe that we are in the final few weeks of the Mickey Harte era.

Not much of a challenge there!

Donegal were seriously impressive the last day. Not sure Derry will cause them too much hassle but hopefully it turns out to be entertaining. Surprisingly open Donegal performances so far. Just on that, we're Donegal to win Ulster they will have beaten Tyrone, Armagh, Derry and Monaghan. Not bad ;-)
