Wonder if Martin McHugh still thinks Laois are the second best team in Leinster?

Well done Antrim

Well done Antrim but even as a Kildare man I can't take any enjoyment from this, the standard of Leinster football outside Dublin urgently needs to be addressed.

The top brass in Leinster GAA are a complete shower of jokers, football in the province is heading for an all time low, be interesting to see how many out of six will be standing by the end of round two of the qualifiers. However i must say that the interest in the qualifiers for teams is gone very low again. Its actually gone into a waste of time in my opinion, change the championship or don't expect any top quality games to be played.

Well done to Antrim, im glad for their fans , they have had to suffer a lot of heartache and anger over poor performances in hurling and footbsll recently. This might give them a lift.
Cavan poster, we dont need the holier than thou attitude about Ulster football . Longford beat Derry last year ,sh.t happens.
This is about a county not performing and Laois have no excuses .

The same thing would happen in any province if one team was given millions of Euro every year to develop GAA, and got to play every game at home.

Change the record ziggy. Fair play Antrim, showed great fight and determination to come back when it looked all over for them. Hard to know where we go from here, shocking underage setup, club championship where 15 out of 16 teams sole ambition is avoiding relegation, clueless county board and a complete apathy for the county team from half the eligible players.

I saw someone post earlier that this was dublins fault for playing all their games at Croker and benefitting from a cash windfall. It might affect Kildare or Meath but Laois' problems are definately our own and of no one else's making.

Well done Antrim!

It seems that you have the Dubs to thank for your victory today judging by some of the comments!

Your county knew how to spend money over the last few years, your players didnt want for anything , We got money alright difference is we put it into the grassroots. So lets not just lazily put all other counties ills down to Dublin .

Leinster football is falling apart at the seams, because one county which shall remain nameless, but plays every game on their home ground, has millions of Euro every year in funding, professional resources and facilities, and an enormous population to pick from, has so many advantages.

oh dear lord
now its dublins fault that laois lost to antrim

its akin to Laois beating Offaly. Actually its not even. Its like Fermanagh beating Fingal, a mess up between no hopers, wholl be knocked out in the next round, unless they draw another no-hoper

laois and offaly played in the same division in the league hardly anything a like
more like kerry beating dublin in hurling I would say

As long as Dublin remain in in leinster annually and keep dominating the rest of leinster will keep getting worse.
Funny how people justify all the underage money going to Dublin because they have big non gaa areas that need investment.
But it's not fair that 10 county gaa strong areas of leinster get left behind to rot .

funny that
since 2010, participation rates have risen by 27pc in football and by a staggering 49pc in hurling.
dublin must have grown in geographical size if there are big non gaa areas as you say

Martin McHugh claims laois are the next closest in Leinster to Dublin by some considerable distance.
But maybe that says more about the one trick analyst.

well juging by the fact they had two games against kildare and didnt beat them either day
I think his comments are easily ignored

so by bryanadams logic dublin must have been the ones to thank for longford beating derry last year in the qualifiers

Where do I start - I suppose admiting that I am chuffed to bits at todays result.

Regarding the three who were dropped I think they are an absolute disgrace and I will be livid if they ever appear in our county colours again. I also believe their club to be complete traitors to Antrims cause - all the worse given they are year after year county champions and recent All Ireland Champions and finalists - this is the epitome of much of what is wrong with Antrim GAA given we have something similar going on in hurling.

Regarding Laois - tough being on the end of a massive upset but when I realised that they had to play 3 weeks running I believed we had a slight chance. Also the qualifiers are where the shocks happen every year so maybe should not be a massive surprise and while it was Laois today there will be a few others ahead.

I do scratch my head a bit at the mindset that seems to be there from some decent teams that enter qualifiers as if season already over - someone gave me an explanation that teams that have been beaten know they will not win Sam so half give up - I find this hard to understand.

Anyway goodnight all from a very happy Saffron.

In fact not goodnight yet as I actually should be splitting the anger at the club in question and whoever fixed the hurling match for Fri night and agreed to play it or forced the team to play it whichever the case. Our County teams get so little help from many corners.

Great result but its a shame this has been in spite of the county board and not with their support. The players in question have significant form for these kind of actions and it shows the mentality in antrim where the county teams are secondary at best. But by fixing a dual club to have a game with relegation implications the night before the qualifier the club and player's were in a no win situation. For antrim to make any progress the county board needs to completely reevaluate the attitude to inercounty because it is pathetic and my opinion would be it wouldnt have made any difference to them if laois had skittled us yesterday.

Antrim have some excellent players but the structures and systems are woeful and until that is changed from the top we'll always be where we currently are, waiting for casement miney to come along is not going to be the saviour for antrim gaa the county board needs to pull the finger out and get a plan.

Flack- Mind you don't hurt yourself when you fall from that Ivory tower. Oh, and if you have any spare cash left over from the millions you have for investment in your county. A few pounds in our direction wouldn't go amiss.

Tremendous result against the odds and under the circumstances. Hopefully this will give some inspiration to all underdogs and we can progress further.

Any team is only as good as the panel that is available. No excuses there.

Seen the score at one stage and it was 0-01 to 1-10 or something like that anyway. Cannot believe they came back. Tremendous result, just a pity it didn't get a TV showing, the good and bad of qualifiers in one go I suppose.

Glad to see Antrim get a big win though, obviously other issues well documented, feel sorry for the St.Galls players (from the little I know of it, it looks like they really had no choice) but really happy for the other players who showed serious heart when they could have just taken their beating and leave it at that for the year.
