People giving out about the A and B sides of the draw not being fair! it was an open draw at the start of the year and if you check the link its just the way the teams came out. Monaghan are going to be in the tougher B side win or lose but I still think it is better the the old system because it streamlines fixtures and eliminates the 6 day turnaround which was brutal to beaten provincial finalists.
Next year we could lose the first round and have an "easy" path to a quarter final. Swings & roundabouts lads

I hear ya Icehockey, but it looks like the luck or unluck of the draw. Having said that I've no idea how this A and B thing works.

From a Wexford point of view it's an awful draw as Derry are the one that's furthest away from Wexford. But if you had drawn Derry at home you would have fancied your chances. I'm just glad we got home advantage.

I don't understand the general consensus that Tyrone will beat Meath. Tyrone atm are rubbish and a Meath team who has the ability to run at the Tyrone defence will score at will. The Tyrone attack when met by any sort of resistance will funnel left and right etc with no penetration and few ideas.

The sooner this shambles of a Tyrone management is gone the better.

To be fair all you's have to do is run at us and watch as we panic and throw in the towel, we've conceded 6-31 in 2 championship games and Tyrone won't allow us to rack up a big score. No I'm afraid it's curtains for us next day out, trust me you's don't have a lot to worry about.

3-12 v Wicklow

3-19 v Westmeath

I said somewhere else, that Micko has not tightened us up in 3 years. That won't change in 2 weeks, add to the fact that Tyrone are miles ahead of the teams we played, our own team will be scarred mentally and confidence in the manager must be low.I just hope we don't see a Limerick type scenario in 2008.We also did not deal very well with the hiding we got from Dublin last year in our next game v Armagh.

Yep all those facts make me worry ziggy, I don't know why we are actually getting worse rather then better when it comes to defending but it doesn't say a lot for the manager, the players or coaching within the county. Tyrone will defend in numbers, get the ball back and then run at us, that worries me because we've shown on plenty of occasions that we can't deal with it and we have no leaders to steady the ship if things aren't going well.

All we can really do now as fans is just hope they put in a performance against Tyrone but we haven't reacted well to bad defeats in the past.

Mickey won his All-Ireland's when he had the best players in Ireland - now when he has an ordinary bunch of lads he is severely lacking!

Good to see the ulster teams kept apart and the backdoor system works with good ties like these. Tyrone did not impress on Sunday but this is a great crowd pleasing game and a close win like two years ago could give Tyrone a big lift. Armagh v Galway home advantage may just tell in this one but Armagh have yet to discover last years form. That said Galway are very poor on the road. Derry v Wexford I can see an upset here as Derry do not appear set up to score very high totals in the two games so far. Tipperary would have to beat Louth if they are going to meet the expectations of some pundits.

Derry have now been drawn at home for their 8th championship match in a row. That's incredible!

It is indeed - will soon be changing their name to Dublinderry - not sure how that will go down with Gregory.

Oh and Antrim have been drawn away for their last 6 championship matches in a row.

sam2008 I agree its time for a change in Tyrone. A change is alway good but calling them a joke is a step too far

Having had a few days to think...

Tyrone v Meath - Whether in Clones,Omagh or Timbuktoo.Tyrone will win easily.

Tipp v Louth - Louth will battle, but Tipp will have enough.

Armagh v Galway - I have said many times that Armagh are overrated.Galway can do them here.

Derry v Wexford - Tipped Wexford to beat Down, but Derry will not want to do a Longford this year! They will win

Delighted to see Tipp get a relatively easy draw. Hopefully the next few rounds will be kind to them and have them primed and ready to take on a tougher them in the last 12 or 8 if they reach that far.

These games will take place on Saturday, July 11th. This draw involves the four winning teams from Round 2A (Cavan/Roscommon, Clare/Longford, Offaly/Kildare and Fermanagh/Antrim) in one bowl.
The draw is subject to avoidance of repeat pairing (Longford v Offaly). The first team drawn has home advantage.

Above is part of the guidance on Mondays qualifier draw. 'The draw is subject to avoidance of repeat pairing (Longford v Offaly)' because they met in the provincial championship. So how come we have a repeat in this weekends games i.e. Fermanagh/Antrim. Do these guys just make it up as they go along?

i wouldn't think so, obviously looking at tpossibilities of what we could have gotten this is the best draw but still a big banana skin. We have a few very important players struggling to make this game too
