"I don't know what's happening to Meath football"

Possibly because it was division 2 v a division 4 team that there was so much criticism for Meath. Yes I believe meath should get to a leinster final, improvement needed but likely to get there. The dubs will expose any tiny crack in any team

Am i mistaken to say that Monaghan were a Division 3 team and Donegal a Division 1 team when monaghan beat them in the Ulster final??

There are some really good footballers on the current Meath minor team. They should make a Leinster final and could well win it imo

Is it not right to say that Donegal has just got relegated and Monaghan promoted so both teams were going to be playing in the same league the following year, where the were duly promoted together?

I actually did leave , and then i was looking through pages a few weeks later and seen so so many posts from genuine fans of football wanting me back, mostly ones i had serious arguments with, but there lays the problem with a few counties supporters if you don't say Tyrone were greatest team ever, ulster is phenomenon rossies are the new messiah etc they don't like home truths, fairness to lads like reald Ollie waynol, me and home never agreed , jimbo, lads from my own county mayo, Galway down supporter and kerry lads, there was 3 pages of people wanting me back, and i always felt obliged. I will be going nowhere Meath wont win Sam this year or next, but the currant crop of lads have the potential when they age a bit, alot of this team reached all Ireland minor final and Leinster final, they are now coming good, but they need to learn from likes of bray k Reilly graham Reilly Gillespie, they need a bit of experience and that's something that takes time , for what its worth if all injuries clear up the team id play for Westmeath would be
P O'Rourke
D keoghan
C McGill
J mcentee
D Tobin
K Reilly
M burke
Rooney
Gillespie
A tormey
S bray (better here than ff)
E Wallace
S O'Rourke
M Newman
Subs
Harnan, Dalton, Flanagan, McMahon, Carroll, s Tobin.
And if im been honest Meath would take Westmeath apart, not been arrogant just calling it as i see it.
Then bring on the dubs. 12 of July will forever be known after as green day :)

So Royaldunne heard his people crying out, heeded their call and returned in triumph to defend the purists from the northern and western barbarian hordes. Does the word megalomania spring to mind?

All hail royaldunne, we are not worthy!!!

You answered your own question really . In the year 2013 Monaghan were playing in Div 3 & Donegal Div 1

No you are not mistaken, but I am not sure what this has got to do with Martin McHugh criticizing Meath football. But if it makes you feel better in some way then good luck to you.

Good to hear. Hopefully they will stick at it and progress to the senior ranks in a few years time.

I don't think we can call Meath a bad side, As far as Sunday goes i've seen a lot of games where a "weaker" team has come close to "stronger" team but thats football for you. Whether or no Meath were complacent going into this game or Wicklow came up with a game plan for Meath.

Meath I would consider as a successful football county and have won many accolades and to be put close to Wicklow may be considered as a shock. Dublin have the finances to allows player "expenses" Kildare have apparently nothing left after Geezer's efforts (not a bad effort) but there is no competition for Dublin in Leinster. If Meath went into a Champions League format I think they would be a weak Top two team or a strong bottom 2 team. At the minute they are an average team and there are quite a few about the country

Indeed, but needs to be happening on a regular basis really..

We also lost one of our finest young talents to come through in years in Cillian O'Sullivan.

DUBJOHN, now before you slate me remember that I didn't bring up the "expenses" topic, but a 5 second google search found me this

http://www.dublinpeople.com/article.php?id=2027

Notice he says "I am delighted to be picking up the keys for my second DS4", now I'm not begrudging flynn because I think he's a fantastic footballer and I'm sure he puts a lot of time and effort into his football, I'm only posting this in reference to your question, but this is clearly an expense paid for!

No Chriscart I think it was you who raised the question, I just added a bit more detail but I'm not sure of the relevance to a discussion on the state of Meath football
