I think the semi final and final of the leinster championship this year will tell us alot about the future of the provincial. If ourselves, meath or Westmeath can't come within ten points and the games turn into annihilations then the gaa may just be persuaded to look to altering the format. Would love to see us knock them off their perch

Dublin will win this one easy, between 12 and 15 points to spare. Kildare are poor and relying on oldish players like O Neill, Smith and Flaherty. We should have beaten them. If Ross scored that penalty we were going to wipe them out. It sickens me to see how one sided this game will be. We are a better equipped to give the dubs a real rattle. Hopefully our manager stays on and builds on this years performances.

Were you not completely hammered as well as Kildare having 16 wides and missed numerous goal chances? I imagine you will now shout for Dublin? Laois really cannot stand Kildare? Huge gulf still remains though....

Kildare's best players are absent currently with lads in Oz and the USA. Peter Kelly is also injured. On the other hand Kildare unlike Longford have the athletic conditioning to make life difficult for the Dubs. Playing a blanket is not an option really as Kildare just don't know how to play one.....sadly for Leinster we are looking at something like 3-17 to 1-12 or so?

Yeah, Flaherty is oldish is he? He's 25. Smith is 28. I suppose in a county like Laois where every player reaches their peak at minor level then that probably does seem a little old.

Either way a combined Kildare-Laois team would probably still lose to the Dubs.

You will certainly need to improve to beat Antrim. Antrim won't fear Laois and if they are taken for granted Laois could well be heading for an early exit.

Disagree with Jimbodub on this one , I dont think you can just decide to park a bus , its a tactic the Donegal use but use fantastically well , its sharp its been tested its engrained in the players , its a mindset as much as anything else , each cog in the wheel completley sacrificing themselves for the team , you cant just put 15 lads behind the ball and think your Donegal .
Kildare may set up more defensively than usual but anyone fooling themselves into thinking that thats preparation for what Donegal will bring , well really really isint . With the possible exception of Monaghan on their day , there isnt a team that can prepare you for Donegal , well maybe their minors or 21s .
To the match , expect a a dublin win if we play to the level we did against Longford , it was mightly impressive the focus shown , if Dubs bring A game only one winner .

If Dublin played with 10 players they would still win easy

If Kildare can stop Dublin from scoring goals they have a chance. Kildare on a good day can beat Dublin on a bad day.

That's rubbish. Kildare have gone so far backwards in the past 4 years its hard to credit. I think this game could well be over by half time, doing neither team any good. That's not arrogance just an opinion.

Fair enough

But that's what Derry did...

They wouldn't normally have setup anywhere like they did against Dublin in the league

Completely out of the norm and it was hugely affective against Dublin on the night on the big pitch

So I don't buy into the fact that it takes all this massive preparation and training...

Kildare have a couple of weeks to get this right in training... and who knows they could have well been setting up like this during training sessions earlier in the league

Look at Dublin 2010.. hammered against Meath and then we completely changed tactic against Tyrone / Cork

So Kildare could def setup very defensively

They have equally as good a panel as Derry currently do.. not much between them really, as such I don't think they'll have much problems copying what Derry did against us in Croke Park

That's what they should be doing... and if they do it would certainly be a far stiffer test and if Dublin win playing against such.. then without doubt its far better preparation than our last encounter

When Kildare are good, we still don't beat Dublin. We give them a game. This team don't have the quality to challenge them. I'm quite relaxed, we have put in 2 performances now after a dire league. This game will help us as guys like Grady, fogarty and McNally will benefit from the experience. Couldn't see us keeping it under a ten point defeat, challenge will be not to let it slip past 15 as the dubs can't rack up scores in the last ten mins unloading the bench against tired defenders.

Interesting how this game could go. The last time Dublin faced a blanket defence in the championship they bottled it. If Kildare can get that doubt going again, this Dublin squad might just wilt a second time.

If the game was in Newbridge Kildare would have a good chance but in Croke Park Dublin will win without breaking sweat

Dublin to wilt against Kildare? I highly doubt it.

Kildare are no where near the class of Donegal in regards quality players and being able to implement that tactic successfully.

Yes, ah well, we all know winning Leinsters and All Irelands, playing every game on your home ground, isn't the same as winning titles on merit, but the dub supporters seem happy enough with the situation.
