Mayo are not even in the top four teams IMO, after todays display even more so.

Dublin, Kerry, Donegal and Mayo, I don't see how you could argue that is the top 4. Monaghan and Cork on a good day maybe? Who else?

Watching todays game Mayo wont win Connacht true what Spillane
said about OShea he is like Red Adair Mayo need him everywhere
had Galway filled the space in front of him plus Galway scoring
an own goal things would be alot different.Im sure John Evans is
licking his chops close down OShea Mayo have no other forward capable
of winning a game for them. All the selectors are doing is shuffling
the deck lets be realistic they are short up front to win Sam

They probably are short for Sam, but I still think better than Roscommon.

Connacht final. Mayo favourites in 2012 & 2013 finals unfortunately the ocassion got to them in both games. Hard done by match officials. No talk of them as they will more than likely complete 5 in a row in Connacht. Can mayo go all the away this year? Aidan O'Shea turning into a key player the edge of the brow. Talk of Alan Freeman and Mark Ronalson are flying in training

Coming in nicely under the radar, expectations of supporters seems to be at acceptable levels, team building nicely, no injuries to key players of note, yeah, I'd say for Mayo its coming together nicely.

They ( Mayo ) are a fair price at around 9/1 for the AI If things go right for them , with the possibility of meeting Dublin in the semi and if they were to beat Dublin then they would really fancy theirselves But would all the hype get to them plus with a lot of players on the team who have experienced loosing two All Ireland's on the trot ( a few have played in a few more loosing finals) IMO it would take some effort from them to win this year
I think the odds are stacked against them , that's not to say they won't win so they have to win on Sunday to have a decent chance Loose Sunday and it would be a long way back , indeed the same applies to Donegal / Monaghan on Sunday

When I hear of guys 'flying in training' the shivers kick in. Usually that means they implode when the real action kicks in. Mayo are not dark horses as they are top 4. The only burning question is have they missed the boat notwithstanding their impressive consistency since 2011. This talk of them having the best middle 8 is way off no more than the post on O'Connor would only make the Kerry bench. O'Connor is often underrated as is instrumental in making Mayo tick. Rose tinted glasses are alive and well.

Hard to see it at the moment, though it is early season, to be fair. AOS can do damage nearer to goal and will support Cillian a bit more, but IMO there are still question marks over full-back. I prefer Clarke to Hennelly in goal and feel that he is less likely to make costly errors in big games. The Mayo half-back and midfield lines are probably amongst the strongest in the country, but we do need the half-forward line to start chipping in with a few more scores. Jason Doherty often gets a lot of stick from Mayo supporters, but he has a Trojan workrate and played very well against Cork and against Kerry in the replay last year.

On their day, this Mayo side will go toe-to-toe with any side in the country, but where we fall down is a lack of strength in depth relative to the likes of Dublin and Kerry. This probably told in recent games against these two sides in the championship. Other than Diarmuid O'Connor, few new players have broken into the championship XV in recent years, and looking at the main contenders for the senior championship, it's difficult to see where the missing link will come from. We've also been quite weak at underage level for the past four or five years, barring the minor All-Ireland win in 2013 (and that seems to have come at a cost to a lot of those young guys).

While I would reserve judgement on the management until the end of the season, what I've seen so far has not been impressive, and I'd worry about us being out again tactically. The circumstances surrounding their appointment were sub-optimal, to say the least.

In short, I would see us being competitive again in August/September, but it's hard to see us putting together the three quality performances needed to bring back Sam.

No .. they will prob beat Sligo, but i like the look of Sligo and Niall Carew so even if Mayo win there is no All Ireland in them, far too reliant on O Shea and O Connoar...

How can a team that is 4th favorites, played 4 semis in a row and reached 2 finals out of the last 3 be darkhorses?

Surely darkhorse would apply to Monaghan or Cork?

I have been to every Mayo All-Ireland final since the 90s and feel this team overall are as good as we've had. I felt 96/97 were two that we should have won... 04/06 I was never too confident as the forwards then were not scoring enough and were largely dependent on either Conor Mortimer frees or Ciaran McDonald moments of genius. 12/13 I felt like 96/97, we should have won one of them but again we didn't have enough up front.

The same point exists for this 2015 Mayo team (and I pray to God I'm wrong btw), like every other final, if we get there, you need more than two forwards. If you look at the previous winners, there's always a good spread of scores. That's the difficulty of every Mayo team on the BIG day, not belief, fear or bottling it. They have just been short another forward contributing to the scoreboard.

This is just my opinion though. I have also listened to the views of many other believing that it's not about scoring forwards, it's about not conceding goals.

Not that it is an excuse but Mayo were not favourites in either final, just to clear that up for you. And Mark Ronaldson would not be someone I would be hanging my hat on to be the difference this year.

They'll beat sligo by 7 or 8 points while struggling at times specifically with hughes and Kelly under high ball.
They'll show enough weaknesses to the top 3 to exploit them later probably in semi and take a tanking from the dubs

I can't see us winning it this year.....but sure keeping the faith and all that who know's.Very little talk about the Mayo team this year and you would never know a Connacht final was on. Credit our players who keep coming back hell for leather, the supporters on the other hand a mentally drained I think from the last 4 years. That said we will there there roaring on Sunday.
