cavanman47 for me the biggest issue is that while they might have managed to do away with the 6 day turnaround for some teams but in the process left it that come quarter final stage all qualifier teams are on a one week turnaround while the provincial winners have had longer to prepare. Essentially all qualifier teams are disadvantaged at this stage.

true - but perhaps that's only fair. there has also been complaints that there's no advantage given to a team for winning their provincial championship. maybe this is it. .

Offside-Rule, I find that strange a I too thought that if you played away last year you got a home game this year, unless your opponent also played away last year.
Cavan came out of the hat first this year, yet we are away as We had a home tie last year and London were away. That's fair enough. it would be interesting to find out if Laois or Kildare were drawn home or away last year. (perhaps neither of them were in round one).

Well, I went there and checked and Laois were in the Qualifiers Round 1 last year and they played at home. Our first round in the Qualifiers was round 2 last year and we were away - as was Kildares first round in the Q2 stage and they too were away. So if there is a reverse rule it must be specific to being in that round of the Qualifiers the previous year as opposed to the Countys first Qualifier. Which would explain the situation above for yourselves as both Cavan and London were in the Q1 stage last year and as you say, you had a home tie while London were away.

Kildare wer not in Round 1 last year. We were drawn away to Down in Round 2 and away to Clare in Round 3.

That's what I said lilywhite i.e.

After today's results, I'm just wondering could Wicklow cause Armagh a few more problems than we might have anticipated in the qualifiers? It won't be one bit easy for the Armagh players to get themselves up for this one after such an inept performance today. Wicklow on the other hand will surely be buoyed by their performance vs a Meath team who operated in a division above Armagh in the league.

Could see it either way for Wicklow, confidence from today or an opportunity lost, they had a least 3/4more goal chances and had men sent off when game in melting pot.

Not really. Armagh were poor today but they are much better than that. They will beat Wicklow handily enough I'd say.

So with Kildares victory yesterday we now know the line up for this weekends first Qualifier Round A:

Round 1A

Waterford v Offaly

London v Cavan: Cavan to win though not by a massive margin.
Laois v Antrim: Laois to win by 6+ points
Longford v Carlow: Longford by 4+
Waterford v Offaly: Offaly

I think all 4 teams could win with the minus handicap

Cavan By more than 7
Offaly by more than 3
Laois By More than 5
Longford by more than 6

It will be interesting alright. Id like to see Wicklow do it. It would be great for them to get a scalp like that. A few shocks are well overdue in the gaa.

I'll be shocked if we don't dismantle Carlow by at least 12 points

So Round 2A has been drawn:

Antrim v Fermanagh
Offaly v Dublin/Kildare
Clare v Longford
Cavan v Roscommon

A home draw for ourselves is a bit of a novelty (though where it will be played is another question) - typical though that we draw the same team we played in the Ulster 1/4 final two games back.

Afraid not you are away to fermanagh if two teams are drawn to meet and they have previously met then the winners of that game will be at home its in the rules

Right maybe I was too quick to take the draw at face value - RTE has us down as the first team drawn out but I see on here it has Fermanagh as the first team drawn out. Anyone able to shed any light? Do we really have to go away again in a Qualifier and away again to Fermanagh?

Yes Offside after playing only 2 of our last 11 championship games at home it is great to get a home draw.

I hear that match will be in Brewster Park Offside because Fermanagh beat Antrim in the provincial game. It's silly that teams who have previously played are not kept apart in this round and is something that should be corrected.
