Lovely Piece about Tyrone here but what timing lol, You are just opening it up for another thread about the big bad tyrone boys. Can we put a Tyrone disclaimer on this or did someone break into hoganstands system and stick this up! redhanddefender (Tyrone) - Posts: 913 - 03/06/2015 17:37:39 1732094 Link 0 |
Bit of a joke to be fair when you take into account kerry played in 8 finals in a decade to tyrones 3 and kerry won 5 all ireland to tyrones 3! Granted kerry failed to beat Tyrone, but take the premier league for example, if a team beat Chelsea twice this year should they be champions! I would also argue that kerry were caught on the hop in 03 with tyrones physical style of play, Tyrone were deserved winners on the day I will admit but not massively significant in the bigger picture, as for 05, kerry were coming off the back of winning an all ireland, and 08 kerry were coming off the back of two all ireland! Hard enough to do back to back these days, don't mind 3 in a row! We never got to see Tyrone play kerry after Tyrone won an all ireland because they never made it that far! Tyrone never made two finals in a row, Kerry made 6 finals in a row,! To put things in perspective, mayo are the only team this decade to make two finals in a row! Absolutely fantastic Tyrone team with some great players but not the same level as the kerry team! as_ky (Kerry) - Posts: 535 - 03/06/2015 18:35:05 1732112 Link 0 |
Not one successful title defence; team of the noughties my arse!!!!!! TheHermit (Kerry) - Posts: 6354 - 03/06/2015 18:37:37 1732114 Link 0 |
Neutral poster here (who thoroughly enjoyed this great rivalry) so maybe my opinion might be more neutral. Sorry Kerry lads but as has been pointed out numerous times before you cannot bring up this matter of consecutive finals as a valid point for Kerry being the team of the decade. Tyrone had to come through the minefield that is the Ulster Championship...and also routinely joust with Armagh throughout the decade who were in my opinion the 3rd best team of the noughties. mrblob (Longford) - Posts: 71 - 03/06/2015 19:21:26 1732130 Link 0 |
Tyrone were the team of the 2000s for me.Winning 3 All Irelands with no tradition of Senior success.Much harder province to deal with than Kerry, and beat Kerry when it mattered.3 times out of 3. cuederocket (Dublin) - Posts: 5084 - 03/06/2015 20:08:55 1732143 Link 0 |

To be fair tyrone were a good side but when it comes to football kerry are kings that's just the way it is monkstownrebel1 (Cork) - Posts: 351 - 03/06/2015 21:26:26 1732171 Link 0 |

It is a ridiculous debate, tyrones record in the years they didn't win it was pretty poor! The two years kerry didn't make the final, they made the semi final! Can argue about ulster being tough but kerry beat plenty of ulster teams throughout the decade, also had a 100% record in the qualifiers and still do! as_ky (Kerry) - Posts: 535 - 03/06/2015 21:51:52 1732189 Link 0 |

I note that no one has put their name to this 'story'. Methinks that the editorial board of HS are being a little mischievous as they have noted the amount of 'love' for Tyrone GAA on the forum recently and decided that they would join in on this Redhandfest too, and hey, who can blame them? brendtheredhand (Tyrone) - Posts: 10897 - 04/06/2015 08:07:31 1732198 Link 0 |

The Kerry boys are rattled now. Tyrone really get under their skin. Paul Galvin crying after beating Tyrone shows how much kerry wanted to beat tyrone. I seen kerry players/supporters celebrate more in that qualifier win than an all ireland final against mayo/cork HughHunt24 (Cork) - Posts: 841 - 04/06/2015 09:39:17 1732220 Link 0 |
People have made their minds up, no debate on this is gonna change which way people think. Just be happy that we got some great matches involving both teams and I for one hold great memories of those days. redhanddefender (Tyrone) - Posts: 913 - 04/06/2015 09:43:57 1732222 Link 0 |
Definitely a little ploy by HS to increase traffic methinks, might just work to :-) Htaem (Meath) - Posts: 8657 - 04/06/2015 09:56:02 1732230 Link 0 |
Yerra Highhunt, we've got our fair share of revenge by now; relegated them twice, put the final nail in the coffin of that great side in 2012 and 7 years after they last tasted an All Ireland we are still winning All Irelands. TheHermit (Kerry) - Posts: 6354 - 04/06/2015 10:13:14 1732236 Link 0 |
