RIP Bill O Herlihy

(Oldest Posts First)

Indeed he did present as a co presenter the very first Sunday game in 1979.
I had the pleasure of meeting him once with a group of people, a more down to earth man you couldn't hope to meet, he adored cork hurling but also loved football, a true journalist genius both at sport and current affairs, he often referred to rte as having told him not to dampen the national mood after we had done so well in Olympics swimming, although him and his co presenter had a discussion about what we all know now to be true, he said afterwards his journalism side should have won out but his bosses wouldn't let him have a free reign .
He was the up most professional and new what viewers wanted , he played dunphy Giles and Brady like puppets.
What a man what a legend. Rip bill you are irreplaceable.
