O'Moore Park upgrade

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

O'Moore Park gets €1m for an upgrade, Kerry gets money for an upgrade of its training facilities, Mayo bailed out for McHale Park, Kildare bailed out for bad finances... its pretty common place for Central council to step in these days and dole out some money for counties in difficulty

As a meath man i'm happy enough with Navan being in 5h17e as we're building Dunganny as a centre of excellence with all the facilities it needs. This is mostly (i'm sure a small amount of central council money has been given) being financed by the good people of county Meath. I'm sure the lighting in Navan will have to be upgraded on H&S grounds and that'll take a large chunk of our money away from us, but again it'll be Meath folk that pay for it. But i'd hate to see us having to go down the road of needing bail outs.

GAA need to bring in a bit off FFP or possibly introduce a central pooling of sponsorship. It no surprise that most of the top counties have the largest sponsorship deals too, so have everything they need at their disposal. Smaller counties can barely scrape by. Can you imagine the dubs or kilkenny trying to operate on the budget that Leitrim have??

What is the logic behind this expansion as ultimately the ground will see little or no games, other than Laois home games in the league, and the odd championship game. This should only be done up if it is to be the primary ground for use during the Leinster championship. The GAA should only be using croke Park on Leinster final day, and not for games that could easily be held in other grounds.

I was surprised when I found out the new stand in Portlaoise only cost 1.75 million in 2002. (Considering Pairc Ui Chaoimh is 70 million). Obviously there is a vast difference in size and quality. It seats six thousand in comfort. I think it has new dressing roams and toilets underneath. Kildare and Meath deserve a lot better than what they have at present.

Yes it needed to be up graded on health and safety issues as it was reviewed last year.

O'Moore park gets plenty of big games because of its location and right so its so handy most most counties Louth/Dublin/Kildare/Wicklow/Tipperary/Cork/Limerick now been just off the M7.

Its also handy for Galway/Clare/westmeath Offaly/Longford/Killkenny/carlow/waterford because its so central

Its a good location for a game and always enjoy the atmosphere in it ...

Good drinking town as well that has great rail services to most of the country ...

Whats not to like.....
