Your comparing The Roc putting his hand in Gallaghers eye line for 30 seconds in the same bracket as McNulty's antics last Sunday wow

Lads have no problem with 15 players in there own half which is puke but the minute Murphy is marked out of a game there's up roar.

MuckrossHead maybe you made a typo but it was McMcMahon not McNulty marking Murphy. Ok here it is a rate Michael Murphy one of if not the best forward in Gaelic Football at th minute, big strong mobile, can score from tight angles or 50 yards out. For 70 minutes Justin McMahon kept this player scoreless from play. I dont think there will be another defender the rest of the year to keep Murphy scoreless from play, we will have to wait and see. I started this thread not to begin a row with anyone but somehow you have taken that way. I never slated any Donegal player, I felt Justin McMahon was getting alot of unjustified criticism, for what I believe was a very good marking job on as i say one of the best forwards in the game today. Muckrosshead I see you have very kindly pointed out that Donegal are in the next round and rightly so as you where the best team on the day, I would put Kerry Donegal Dublin and Mayo ahead of Tyrone, but would fully expect Tyrone to give any of those teams their fill of it, as we did to Donegal on there home patch in a proper championship tough hard game. Pepole crying about this and that a bad dig was'nt thrown in the entire game hard hits maybe where Tyrone & donegal players got up and got on with it, and at the end of the game shook hands. Muckrosshead, good luck to Donegal and Michael Murphy for the rest of the championship, we'll go the back door we have won 2 All-Ireland that way so we wont complain. Tir'eoghain abu.

I always had great time for Justin mc mahon who I considered to be a top class defender but I think he's had his day and last Sundays "display" was the act of a desperate man! He knew quite clearly he wasn't up to the job of marking one of the best players in the country so he resorted to the black arts beloved of a few of his former comrades! I know Murphy is no angel either but he did turn up to play football! I wonder if Saint Mickeys well publicised "holy ways" are not included in his coaching manual because Tyrone teams at all grades are certainly not Christian in their approach to the game and I think most gaa people are sick to the teeth of them dragging our game further and further into the ****.

The best marking job I seen done on Michael Murphy was Johnny Cooper a few years ago in the league. Beat him to nearly every ball and dispossessed him on a few occasions too. That was quality man to man marking as he also got involved from an attacking sense too. All this and without fouling him, mouthing to him and he actually faced the play!!

Tyroneultra don't bet your house on nobody else holding Murphy scoreless from play this year - in his last 5 championship games I think he has scored a total of 3 points from play!

Tyrone ultra remember that! "you've won two all Irelands through the back door"! There's only one way to win the all Ireland my good friend and that's WINNING ALL YOUR GAMES any other way is a tainted victory! And most defenders could have the job on Murphy that mc mahon done but then again most of them would rather play football! Mc mahon at this stage of his career is not fit to lace Murphys boots hence the "special tactics " last Sunday!

When did everyone turn soft? Justin McMahon himself scored more from play than Murphy! The person that started the thread or anyone else in here failed to mention the abuse Sean Cavanagh got.

What is wrong with what McMahon did? He was too physical for Murphy and won the little mind games between the two which can be even more important. Losing his cool could have seen him get a red card if he reacted and cost Donegal the game. In fact Murphy won them the game simple as that. 3 frees, stepping up when it mattered when the game was in the balance. Tyrone may feel hard done by but they were the creators of their own failures cause of the missed chances. I know i'd rather look to our next game whoever that may be against than look at last weeks game and failing to beat Donegal. We went out with a plan and simply it FAILED!

This nonsense about "sledging" is ridiculous. I remember a playing in maynooth and a player asked me how was MY QUEEN and talking rubish in my face for 60 mins in a college game. Let the slabbers slabber cause 9/10 they know your better than them. Let the football do the talking and if you are going to react make sure you do enough damage when you do get sent off.

When did umpires and linesmen lose their voice during 70 mins? If they see anything they have the authority to "INFORM" the referee in what they seen. They are not allowed to advise in anyway but if there was so much happening what was the referee not informed or did McQuillin yellow out of all the major decisions?

No worse than most other players on a pitch at any given time Liam. Yez are really going for it now by trying to demonize a player like him. Might have been no angel, like say Philly Mc Mahon:),but not the worst either. As a Dub you should well know about taking flack about certain things. Don't go with the begrudges and pot stirrers on here. Many Ulster posters refused to take the bait during the whole "biting" scandals. We think for ourselves for the most part.

Fair enough Seanie - unfair of me to bring off the field antics into question in this thread with that particular player.

I think bosch from derry has hit the nail on the head here. This player was sent out to do a job - a horrible one at that. His manager is a very shrewd man and has a massive 'win at all costs' attitude. I don't like his tactics and you can go right back to a diving incident in the 03 AI final to see that he had his players drilled a certain way from day one. Can't argue that he hasn't been massively successful though!

Watching Justin McMahon give a total Master Class in Defending last week against M Murphy surely now people throughout Ireland must recognise that he is the best defender in Ireland, keeping Michael Murphy scoreless and lets face it in his back pocket for the whole game. Donegal tried the high ball in Justy either caught it above Murphy or broke it down and won possession and left Murphy for dead. To keep Michael Murphy scorless from play not many defenders with do that this year. Justin McMahon makes me proud o be a Tyrone man.

Ah Jesus, give us a break

This conversation is really starting to annoy me. I accept that I wasn't at the game last Sunday but I did watch it on the TV and i seen nothing wrong. How exactly are you supposed to man mark a good forward? You have to be cynical. You always have to push the boundaries of the rules to the limits. As a back, you cannot let a good forward have the freedom of the pitch because he'd destroy you. There is a phrase that nice people dont win anything in sport
