Monaghan would be favourites for this but Cavan are at home and it looks like Drew Wylie and Darren Hughes might miss out. Lockjaw (Donegal) - Posts: 9196 - 20/05/2015 12:37:53 1726014 Link 0 |

going into the match Monaghan are clear favourites but I have a sneaky feeling Cavan might pull it off. woops (Kerry) - Posts: 2073 - 20/05/2015 12:56:56 1726025 Link 0 |
Home advantage might just swing this game Cavans way. cuederocket (Dublin) - Posts: 5084 - 20/05/2015 13:06:53 1726033 Link 0 |
Cavan have made solid progress over the last three years and I fancy them to have a good run in the Ulster Championship by reaching the final. Home advantage could swing this local derby in a low scoring game. Byanthon (Tyrone) - Posts: 1780 - 20/05/2015 13:21:07 1726048 Link 0 |
Lived in Cavan for many years growing up, so I'd love to see them pull this off. Unfortunately I just can't see them putting up a big enough score to do it. Monaghan had a good run in division one this year and that will stand to them. Hope I'm wrong, but I think Monaghan will pull away by 4-5 points in the end petejoeduff (Donegal) - Posts: 329 - 20/05/2015 13:33:18 1726056 Link 0 |
Cavan could win this one, although any side with a Conor McManus deserves respect. Cavan by 2, looking forward to a real derby clash. brendtheredhand (Tyrone) - Posts: 10897 - 20/05/2015 14:04:33 1726077 Link 0 |
Hard to see anything here but a Cavan victory playing at home against a side severely weakened by injuries who they have beaten three times out the last four meetings. Huge pressure on Cavan to finally deliver on all the rich promise of successful U21 sides. Their match to lose. They sound very confident in the media all week also.Hopefully we put up a good show ahead of the qualifiers it being on the television and all ! seanie08 (Monaghan) - Posts: 1808 - 20/05/2015 14:34:50 1726092 Link 0 |

You would have to favour Monaghan by 4-5 points but will get a tough game against their neighbours. Monaghan are on the go now for a few years and have the know-how and experience to win this match. If Cavan are to win, it is essential they get a good start and don't fall behind. If they fall behind and have to commit more men to attack, Monaghan will counter attack them. Whoever wins this match should make the final. JimTheLegend (Donegal) - Posts: 247 - 20/05/2015 15:18:41 1726119 Link 0 |
You'd imagine if Monaghan are serious about challenging Donegal in this year's Ulster final that they'll handle Cavan easily enough. MesAmis (Dublin) - Posts: 13730 - 20/05/2015 15:43:47 1726136 Link 0 |
there was one point init 2 years ago. How much have Monaghan improved since the ?. s goldrick (Cavan) - Posts: 5518 - 20/05/2015 15:48:30 1726138 Link 0 |
The start is all important if Monaghan get ahead they will not be caught if Cavan get ahead I think they might sneek it... BigJohn.6_8 (Galway) - Posts: 704 - 20/05/2015 15:51:35 1726140 Link 0 |
Cavan have a very strong defense and a lively forward line. They might even edge monaghan at midfield.. I fancy them to put it up to monaghan at the weekend. But I dont think they will win. If they do, then it is a great add for the ulster championship. Donegalman (None) - Posts: 3830 - 20/05/2015 15:53:11 1726143 Link 0 |
Some of Cavan's younger players who have come through the U21 system need to step up now. And I think there is no better occasion to do so than against the annoying neighbours up the road. This should be a cracker. I am hoping that Liam McHale's more offensive thinking will give us a bit more up front and I am going for the Breffni boys by 2-3!! I am very nervious about this game. Very hard to call. Missing two great men in Hughes & Wylie. Cavan are at home and are well up for it. MuineachanAbu (Monaghan) - Posts: 640 - 20/05/2015 17:20:30 1726190 Link 0 |
If Cavan can tie up Conor McManus they have every chance. Easier said than done though. In the Ulster final last year Donegal managed to crowd him out and won comfortably enough in the end. Lockjaw (Donegal) - Posts: 9196 - 20/05/2015 17:34:51 1726196 Link 0 |
Expecting a really tough game on Sunday, but looking forward to it, I'm hoping we can live up to our expectations and win this one , but I am expecting a really tight game however I won't be surprised if we win by 6-7 , Hopefully we can stop the Cavan influence in players like Clarke.. Mackey .. Dunne all great players ,perfect match for the neutral and winner should be a shout for the Ulster final or even the winners, Can see McManus getting special attention but if he plays like he did in 2013 I'll be confident MonaghanGlory (Monaghan) - Posts: 738 - 20/05/2015 17:56:45 1726206 Link 0 |
@Lockjaw....Donegal managed to crowd out an unfit C.McManus last yr :) seanfinn (Monaghan) - Posts: 360 - 20/05/2015 18:39:52 1726229 Link 0 |
