Yet again the referee refuses to give a black card. The foot trip by Neil Gallagher was a black card but the referee bottles it. Scrap it, it's a joke. shaggylegend (Monaghan) - Posts: 1928 - 17/05/2015 16:41:35 1724517 Link 0 |
I suggest you read the rule book. It was clearly an attempt to go for the ball not a cynical trip, it was late therefore a yellow card not black. tirchonaill92 (Donegal) - Posts: 156 - 17/05/2015 16:46:45 1724527 Link 0 |
McQuillan is having a nightmare, not applying the rules at all and letting Donegal away with every dirty hit going. Ulsterman (Antrim) - Posts: 9719 - 17/05/2015 16:47:01 1724528 Link 0 |
Ball was well gone, and Donegal are doing a lot of systematic fouling shaggylegend (Monaghan) - Posts: 1928 - 17/05/2015 16:51:41 1724535 Link 0 |

No black card for mcneillis now when he takes the Tyrone man out. Bad refereeing shaggylegend (Monaghan) - Posts: 1928 - 17/05/2015 17:10:08 1724551 Link 0 |

Get rid of this ridiculous black card now. No one seems to know what merits one, it's far too inconsistent and causes nothing but debate and controversy, as soon as the championship ends lose it!!! realdub (Dublin) - Posts: 8603 - 17/05/2015 17:57:16 1724590 Link 0 |
kavvie, ain't nothing new about goading or mouthing, it's been there since time began, believe me!!! Only difference now is, they push and shove and tear jerseys, unlike the old days! realdub (Dublin) - Posts: 8603 - 17/05/2015 18:00:28 1724593 Link 0 |
Kavvie how do you know he was talking/slagging him? Could you hear it? Did the mics actually pick up what he said? PoppinPoints (Meath) - Posts: 225 - 17/05/2015 18:02:07 1724597 Link 0 |
Time to scrap the black card, refs don't know when to use it, surely pulling and dragging off the ball is classed as cynical fouling, ie preventing a player from playing/running. What could be done to save the black card is when players are pulling and dragging they are blackcarded, after a team has 3 players blackcarded no more subs allowed on, both Donegal and Tyrone would have finished with 10 players riverboys (Mayo) - Posts: 1389 - 17/05/2015 18:10:51 1724604 Link 0 |
There was never a need for the black card. It's only there because many referees can't consistently enforce the yellow and red card. I think that it's an advantage to the team commiting the black card offence as they can slow down the opposition and bring in a fresh sub as punishment. How can we not have more consistent refereeing decisions from the referees with 6 sets of eyes pitch-side to, allegedly, help his decision-making. Is it time for the public to give their votes out of 10 for ref performances, I'm afraid I'd have to give Joe and his party (linesmen and umpires) a 3 out of 10, awful day for a game but too much off the ball incidents and ref not dealing with them early enough, not consistent enough, linesmen and umpires need to have more say, there is no point having 7 officials watching the ball, sure when the ball is in front of 1 goal the 2 umpires at the other end should be watching what players are doing riverboys (Mayo) - Posts: 1389 - 17/05/2015 18:51:13 1724629 Link 0 |
One thing that I've noticed in the game is half forwards fouling then standing in front of the kicker almost unaware of where they are as they slow down the free kick that extra 3 seconds to allow their players to retreat and get set in place PoppinPoints (Meath) - Posts: 225 - 17/05/2015 18:51:51 1724631 Link 0 |
Realdub, its not the black card that causes controversy, its the fact that the refs arent enforcing the rule properly. The black card was a good idea. joncarter (Galway) - Posts: 2692 - 17/05/2015 18:53:52 1724634 Link 0 |
Well good luck with trying to stamp that out, not that I disagree with you, but it's impossible to police. realdub (Dublin) - Posts: 8603 - 17/05/2015 19:00:29 1724640 Link 0 |
My problem with the black card was that it ends a players game. Its a stiff punishment, and I always felt that because of this refs would be unwilling to enforce the rule. joncarter (Galway) - Posts: 2692 - 17/05/2015 19:09:45 1724646 Link 0 |
