...to a behavioural charter. joncarter (Galway) - Posts: 2692 - 09/05/2015 16:59:00 1721786 Link 0 |
I agree jc, would it work? Probably not , like you say it is in the DNA of some counties (Tyrone) and unfortunately I can't see them stopping . KingdomBoy1 (Kerry) - Posts: 14092 - 09/05/2015 18:57:34 1721832 Link 0 |
Your way off, all this behaviiour is glorified in most sports (american football, rugby, aussie rules, cricket, etc.etc.) and it goes on more in soccer than in gah flack (Dublin) - Posts: 1054 - 09/05/2015 19:12:32 1721837 Link 0 |
Well fair enough but i dont want to turn this into another Tyrone bashing thread. My opinions on what lies at the soul of Tyrone GAA are well documented and made me very popular among the red hand posters,so I dont want to revisit it here. joncarter (Galway) - Posts: 2692 - 09/05/2015 19:24:45 1721839 Link 0 |
They've already agreed to abide by the rules. Like you've said some will and some won't abide them. Up to the 7 in-game officials, in championship to police and enforce those rules. Some players are better at staying within the rules and some officials are better at consistently enforcing them. GreenandRed (Mayo) - Posts: 7390 - 09/05/2015 19:30:29 1721842 Link 0 |
yet another negative thread...people use sly tactics to get an advantage in every single sport..nothing new here..up to the refs to enforce the rules in a stronger more consistent fashion fabio8 (USA) - Posts: 2182 - 09/05/2015 20:32:41 1721855 Link 0 |
personally if everybody was a saint then the game would be rather boring...sport needs people like luis suarez fabio8 (USA) - Posts: 2182 - 09/05/2015 20:33:39 1721856 Link 0 |
A charter, probably the most ludicrous suggestion yet, time for some folk to pull their heads out of their a**** and get with the real world. This forum has been on a steady decline, a downward spiral of pure spitefulness, vindictiveness and negativity and I've had enough. Time for me to take a break from here because I'm effing demoralised by the whole damned thing. brendtheredhand (Tyrone) - Posts: 10897 - 09/05/2015 20:48:13 1721866 Link 0 |
Sorry fabio man but I aint havin that. Yes there are sly tactics in every sport but if a premier league player behaved the way some GAA players behave hed be given a 10 game ban. Off the ball violence, sledging (and believe me,some of the stuff players say to each other is horrible, Ive even heard that dead relatives are made fun of) are way worse in the GAA. joncarter (Galway) - Posts: 2692 - 09/05/2015 20:51:28 1721868 Link 0 |
a minority of gaa games...you arent comparing like for like...again only interested in the negative...a behaviour charter?..where are you going?..look at the despicable behaviour in rugby for instance where violence is glorified as a battle..were lucky the gaa doesnt have to pander to the politically correct brigade like yourselfs...soccer for instance has non stop diving and everybody trying to get each other sent off..this goes on every single week..spitting also common place..look at the antics of diego costa fabio8 (USA) - Posts: 2182 - 09/05/2015 21:45:18 1721888 Link 0 |
What a stupid remark. Wouldn't being a superb talent be entertainment enough if you didn't go around biting or insulting other players plus you would likely be a far better example to kids learning the game. No its never going to be like that as long as its allowed to continue but to suggest sport needs it is silly. Dubh_linn (Dublin) - Posts: 2312 - 09/05/2015 21:45:46 1721889 Link 0 |
what people have been turned off the game? fabio8 (USA) - Posts: 2182 - 09/05/2015 21:46:27 1721890 Link 0 |
i seriously doubt the behaviour of luis suarez over the last number of years has turned anybody off the game..in reality most people dont give a toss once they see him perform...the only people who care are the pr people and the media looking for a story fabio8 (USA) - Posts: 2182 - 09/05/2015 21:47:31 1721893 Link 0 |
And neither did anyone tune in on the off chance he might bite someone. Dubh_linn (Dublin) - Posts: 2312 - 10/05/2015 08:58:28 1721903 Link 0 |
Keep the faith Brend. Hope to see you back on the Pool thread sometime soon. GreenandRed (Mayo) - Posts: 7390 - 10/05/2015 10:26:00 1721923 Link 0 |
Being a wifebeater didnt stop half the world tuning into the sham that was the fight of the century . Great sport the GAA , but post something positive and it barely gets a response , try talking about , biting , drugs , puke football , leinster the pits , kilkenny playing on the edge blah blah and you have an audience . "No talking to you opponent off the ball". Ah stop will ya! Why on earth would anyone want that? Do you want us to wear earplugs too to drown out crowd abuse? killer_88_ (Mayo) - Posts: 2040 - 10/05/2015 17:21:54 1722098 Link 0 |
