As people seem oblivious to it, there is an Ulster Hurling Championship too you know.

Don't Antrim play in Leinster?

Mayo Hurler - we do indeed. And we also play in the Ulster Hurling Championship which is played each year. Interstingly the Ulster Championship is probably as open this year as it has been in a number of years given that it was a Down team which won the Ulster Club championship and the two Down teams who play in the top Antrim Division currently placed in the top 4 of the league. Add to that the fact that it took the Antrim Champions a replay to get past the Derry team and that we only beat Derry by 1 point in the Ulster Final last year. We may have won all but 13 of the titles played for going back to the beginning but I don't think we are going to get our 14th in a row handed to us by the two other Counties mentioned.

Offside_Rule, I thought they scrapped it like the Connacht championship a few years back good to hear theres some competition up there without a complete Antrim walkover ;). Shame the Connacht counties (besides Galway) have no provincial championship to compete in... Fair play to the lads up there keeping it going, hurling is really dying off over here. link

Haha fair play to them we might have our own Shefflin yet :D. I'm a Kilkenny native myself and many of the lads involved in the hurling up here are too. Anyway back to the topic...

Arrogant post!

If anyone other than Dublin win Leinster will they consider it irrelevant? Same with all other provinces.

Mayo will either do the 5 in a row in Connaught or a squad of players who have none or very few medals will win it - relevant either way.

A Cork v Kerry munster final is always a big game, and if it's neither of these 2 who wins it, it will be far from irrelevant for whoever does!

The Ulster championship is never dismissed as irrelevant given the rivalry between the counties.

What if I said Dublin's 2 most recent All Ireland's were "irrelevant" because they couldn't do back-to-back, or they didn't beat Team A, B or C along the way, etc. .?

Good post Cavan Man........... Just because the Leinster championship is irrelevant to Dublin as they have no competition in it doesn't mean the rest of the prov championships is......
