Yeah 50 000 is quite good (not great but good), but I dont get this "the French dont travel" thing.
Its a European final.

Its a European final Jon but the French and English rugby supporters prioritise success in their own domestic leagues above European success - these 2 French sides may well meet in Paris in June in the Top 14 final and there will be 80,000 at it.
GAA attendances are generally excellent, especially at club level when you can often see 200+ people at a regular league game in any part of the country each weekend.

Actually attendances in GAA and most other sports in Ireland do not hold up well compared to other countries, we do not have a culture of going to sport events week in week out, just look at league attendances compared to championship.
Fair points.

so? it may be a European cup final but French rugby supporters are not renowned for travelling in huge numbers. Huge, unbelievable pride in maintaining home record, teams and supporters, but can have a laissez faire approach for supporters in relation to travelling to games. Teams can have it as well. Ive heard this from several friends whove played at pro/semi pro level in france including cronan Gleeson who also has played in the Aviva premiership "A" league for Bristol and shane o leary currently playing for Connacht but last season played for Grenoble and he played in the European challenge cup for them last season. They would say from experience that French teams don't travel well/perform anywhere near as good away from home as they do at home

Not true in most cases. Toulouse prioritise both equally and Clermont have done all the time recently and from the season where they gave up away to munster in thomond have been very serious about Europe.
