Kerry still the team to beat?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

I dont think the Kerry team last year was very that old. Marc O'Se, Mahony, and D. Walsh were over thirty. Maybe D. Sullivan also. Enright, O'Donoghue, Murphy, Kilkenny, Lyne, Sherwood, P.Geaney, M.Geaney, Buckley are under twenty five. Moran, Maher, and Young well under thirty. P. Galvin is seen as a late replacement in games if he reaches county fitness.

We will dissect what ever team is put in front of us this year, and Eamon will always think out side the box and change things , if your unpredictable it's hard for teams to make plans to beat you plus teams will have to also concentrate on their own game plans as if they are worrying about what we're gona do they might take their eye off the ball then BANG your bate.

We should be first up to give them a rattle and if we do have a fully fit team coming off a game two weeks earlier its one in thurles ill be eagerly anticipating, Think we can win but dont think we will win, another year or two though along our development and i feel we will eventually get the better of cork or kerry or both, heres hoping anyway

Marc O Se ,O Mahony, Sullivans, Sheehan, Donaghy, Gooch, Galvin ,Walsh, Dads Army are going for two in a row if this happens shame on Dublin Mayo Donegal Monaghan Tyrone Cork it would be shocking for a team with that age and mileage to beat us lads.

The only thing I am interested in at the moment is how close Tipp are to Kerry.
Tipp should be able trouble Kerry and I would have them as a better team than Clare that were with Kerry until 10 mins to go last year

Kerryrowz - Kerry are All-Ireland champions and should be favourites to win the All-Ireland this year but dont be placing hope on beating
Dublin because of their age distribution,a 28 year old player should be at his best. The Dublin age distribution is very good.

Yes it would be fantastic to see Tipperary take the scalp of Kerry. Who knows what would have happened to Limerick football in 2004 (?) had it not been for shovel-hands Dara O'Sé. By all accounts football is beginning to get a strong foothold in Tipp and a Munster title win could really shake things up down there!

Within Munster the focus has to be on where is the threat going to come from other counties. Tipperary are the obvious choice. There's a bit of momentum building up in Clare as well. The problem for Clare is that Limerick could knock the wind out of their sails. It wouldn't entirely surprise me for an upset to happen in the next 2-3 years. The first question is, are counties giving themselves a chance of causing an upset. In the case of Tipperary and Clare, in fairness they are making a decent fist of making a challenge. Tipperary as I said recently look likely to be stronger that the Limerick team that went close.

i think it would be fair to say that only for cormac o reilly last year we would be talking about kerry as an average to good team.they also had luck in the final with the misplaced kick out...hard see past dublin.i think gavin has adapted every tactical scenario into the game plan during the league..tightened up the back line etc.only possible weakness in dubs is mid field.and with cluxons kickouts its not as important as it might be...

Kerry will walk it.

Won it last year despite being in transition.

Gooch, Walsh, Galvin to come back in.

They've three games to win come August and they're looking very likely to win it now.

kavvie that is all hear say and utter baloney.
Cormac Reilly didnt win Kerry the game. We got a couple of frees in extra time which was soft but you tell me Kerry would not have scored besides those frees in that 1st half of period time?
Name one team in the last decade apart from kerry that won an all ireland final without a bit of luck.

1718320 Lads who can compete with Kerry? Dublin have peaked as their a league team and ourselves Donegal, Tyrone and Mayo are still in transition. Kerry wont start training til August when the real football. Hopefully we get within to 8-10points of ye in the Munster Final as ye look unstoppable at the moment

Best wind up of the year , Dublin a league team , Two all Irelands in last four years ,
Are Mayo in transition ? hadn't heard that one .
Kerry don't start training until August ?
Supprised at how many bit on this one .

Donegal

and possibly Cork.

But define "luck". Were Kerry not lucky that Mayo had such off-days in 04 and 06? Were they not lucky that Cork let that lead slip in 09? etc.

Personally I dont think they were "lucky" but I don't think Donegal were 1 bit "lucky" in any of their games in 2012 - they were simply the best team in the country that year, and by some distance too!

All Ireland Champs will always be the team to beat.
That's the way every competition works across all sports.

Each team will then have their own rivals that they get great joy in beating.
Kilkenny - Tipp
Dublin - Meath
Cork - Kerry
etc.

Kerry and Dublin are the 2 best teams on paper this year.
Will one of them win the All Ireland - I think so, but that's sport, nobody knows for certain.

It's hard to be totally unpredictable as reigning All Ireland Champions, as the teams who lost the previous year will generally learn more from their mistakes and come back better organised.

Cavanman Dublin '13 were lucky how? We won the league we then bet Kildare Meath Cork Kerry And Mayo to win Sam if ever a team deserved to win Sam without luck it was Dublin '13 by far the best that year.

ok woops.you seem to be suffering from a memory lapse!! shane enright should have been sent off?yes or no? kerry down to 14 men.instead he was replaced bty marc o se who again showed why hes one of the best corner backs orf all time.would kerry have won with 14? very much doubt it.so the referee was instrumental in kerry winning that match.also the 2 points from soft frees in extra time were a lot more valuable than say at the start of the match due to fatigue etc..
