Dublin dominance ruining the GAA?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Split Dublin in half and they will still win Leinster every year. In fact most years it will be Dublin v Dublin.

Just for fun, probably forgetting a few bodies.

Northside:
Cluxton
McMahon
Curley
Cooper
McCarthy
Brennan
McCaffrey
Fenton
Carthy/Brady
Flynn
Kilkenny
Connolly
B Brogan
Rock
Al Brogan
Bench: Costello, Andrews, Daly, Small and more

Southside:
Molloy
Fitzsimons
O'Carroll
Byrne
Nolan
O'Sullivan
Deveraux
MDMA
Bastick
Scully
McManamon
O'Connaigle
Mannion
Eoghan O'Gara
Killian O'Gara

I would have the Northside 2nd Favs behind Kerry for SAM.
The Southside would be in with a shout of getting to a Leinster Final as well tho.

Change the title to "More excuses why we can't beat the Dubs, but forgot all about between the 1995 and 2011 All Ireland's". If you wanna beat them first try and join them. If you can join them then try and beat them. Be pro-active. Less than a year ago Donegal showed they can be beaten. If you think they've all the advantages and it makes you angry enough channel your anger into doing someting about it. On the pitch !

My memory is fine.
Donegal beat Dublin last year is what I am assuming you mean.

What has that got to do with that team being 2nd Favs behind Kerry, in my opinion?

Dublin are favourites to win SAM in the the bookies as well, should they be 3rd or 4th because they lost a game last year?

GAAHattrick that is phenomenal strength in depth to be fair and I'd say the North side would beat the South side :-)

It's gas though, if you start up a thread on a serious topic quite often they don't do well but this is an obvious wind up thread started by Ulsterman (who regularly goes on all sorts of tangents) and in less than 24 hours we're into the 4th page!

1717918 It's 15 men vs 15 men, regardless of the size of population of any county.

Kerry has a significantly smaller population ( At least 10% lower ) than counties like Cork, Meath, Galway, Donegal, Tyrone, Derry, Armagh, Down, Tipperary etc.

Don't forget that in the four Northern counties you mention Gary, a very large percentage of the populous would be not too well inclined towards the GAA if you catch my drift.

royaldunne
let me get this exactly clear now
you would rather see soccer and rugby being played in croke park above national league games
you would rather we promote soccer and rugby above gaa?
its not bs its a fact of life
we had 27,500 and 23,000 at dublin v tyrone and dublin v donegal
the parnell park scheme and the gaa season ticket scheme are sold out
therefore sending league games back to parnell park with a capacity of 10 thousand
would be a major step backwards for dublin gaa and the gaa in general
and most importantly for the national league itself
the gate recipets from league games are split amongst all counties in a pot
dublin have to rent croke park to play league games there
any county has the option of doing this so I dont see why your making out dublin are getting something others are not
being given access to. you also appear to want one of the best stadiums in europe
to be only used a maximum of 7 times a year for its reason of being built GAA MATCHES
therefore you appear to be advocating that the gaa use croke park for soccer and rugby matches more than gaa games

Yeah, sure I only posted for a bit of craic.
Ridiculous thread.

Also, Northside would 100% beat the Southside.
Too busy playing rugby and cricket over that side to be worried about little the auld GAA

brend you could also point out that in dublin more than half of the popoulation arent actaully dubs
they are people born in other counties and working and living there
and non nationals so they arent exactly putting their hand up for selection

Yes we have an advantage with population but the numbers being used are GREATLY exaggerated.
Yes we should play more outside of Croker, which we have no problem with, I think we have shown we can win on the road.

After that, we have our shit together, and are just better than most other teams generally, we are fitter and have better footballers, bit like Kerry are most years. One or two Kerry posters have described us as well driven athletes, the same way people used to talk about Kildare, all I can say to that is, watch '13 semi again!

AI winners in the past 20 years:
Kerry 7
Dublin 3
Tyrone 3
Galway 2
Meath 2
Armagh 1
Cork 1
This list shows that apart from Kerry no other team has dominated Gaelic football.

Dublin's dominance in Leinster is more worrying though

Last 10 Leinster champions

Dublin 9
Louth 1

GAAHattrick, that is an interesting experiment, and as a southsider i will have to admit that northside team would beat us.However you jokingly said we play cricket and rugby over this side and were not interested in little ole GAA.It is only fair that we compare the strenghts of our hurlers on both sides of the Liffey. For ye northsiders it doesnt make for pretty reading.Over the last decade since weve made considerable progress which has us now as one of the elite hurling counties,it has been dominated by men from the southside.Anything upto 13/14 southsiders on the 1st 15 has been a regular occurrence.Even during this years league its nearly all southside men doing the business.Cuala,Ballyboden,Kilmacud,Judes and Lucan are the main suppliers now.Our rise in the small ball game has coinsided with the success and dominance of these southside clubs. We would take our chance on a northside/southside,hurling/football aggregate score bonanza. All day long!

Just as a matter of interest this would be my pick from that lot above

Cluxton
McMahon
O Carroll
Cooper
McCarthy
Brennan
McCaffrey
MDMA
Bastick
Flynn
Kilkenny
Connolly
B Brogan
E O'Gara
Rock

Bastick over O'Sullivan is just a personal choice

Every man is entitled to his opinion but facts have to be faced.

What you're saying is that the Dublin team shorn of many of it's best players would be the second best team in Ireland.

Not to put too fine a point on it, nonsense.
