Every team has different ambitions for the league, ours is to blood young lads and stay up so is corks I believe, dubs ambitions are to win the league and that probably comes from being insecure around us Kerry folk they are like a little brother trying to impress their bigger brother all the time. But look that's fair enough , I'd also like to offer my congratulations to the dubs coz I know it means a lot to ye so well done, but I'm not going to offer my condolence to the cork team coz I know ye weren't that bothered about that game yesterday.

Nonsense thread, it was a league match. Talk about an over reaction. Dublin experimented as much as any other team in this years league. Like last year we sneeked into the semi finals and fell into a final. We played well yesterday against what was a poor Cork side on the day. If Leinster is a miss match Munster is a non match. This Cork team are not delivering and need to lay down a marker against Kerry.

Kerry 75-86 and Kerry side from 2000 on - then I'd have Tyrone - Dublin 70s Galway 60s Down double winners
Dublin nowhere near yet

All joking aside Joker (terrible pun I know) Munster is stronger than Leinster. Cork had a bad day yesterday but we all know they are closer to Dublin than any other county in Leinster. Tipp and Clare would give anyone in Leinster outside Dublin a good rattle too...

----
It's not a pun if you read my name Hermit :) Anyway re Tipp or Clare beating Meath or Kildare in the Summer, I'm sure supporters in Navan and Newbridge would have something to say about that. I think both will be much stronger in the Summer than league performances suggest.

It's a close call, but for me it's:

1. '92 US Olympic Basketball Dream Team
2. Brazil '70
3. Dublin '15 League Champions

Ahh lets not get carried away here. Donegal beat dubs last year but if that game was played 10 times dubs would have won 9.

How the hell do you figure that one out?

Is it because of the famous two missed chances in the first half? First off Dublin had been missing goal chances all year & second neither was a gilt edge cert of a chance. I am of the opinion myself that in both cases an easy point was on offer & should have been taken.

Neither should we forget that the points Dublin scored in that first period were mostly of the "wonder" variety. Great scores yes but you treat them as a bonus when they go over the bar.

Could Dublin have won the game? Of course they could, but the fact is at the end of 70 mins they were a well beaten team & to say that 9 times out of 10 they would win that game is nonsense.

Looking at the game yesterday its hard to find any real discernible weaknesses in the Dublin team. They were also missing MDMC, Paul Flynn, Alan Brogan and O'Carroll left the field after 20 minutes.....their tackling across the field and their ability to turn teams over high up the field is incredible. The Leinster Championship is dead in the water.....

Muck you and i know man for man dubs are better than any other county with only Kerry coming near, then yourselves, that has been the case since 11 and is still the same today, however there will always be the shock result , us in 10 you last year mayo another time, but if you were to play any of those games again they would more than likely win.
Meath could beat them (even if unlikely) in Leinster final, but should we meet again theyd hammer us. One off games can throw up a shock, but man don't tell me Donegal are on a par with them, no one is , and while the beauty of sport is that on the day a team can get caught, have a off day , opposition punches above their weight , ref gives one or two calls etc etc and all that can lead to a victory for the less talented squad
But lightening doesn't often strike twice, if that game was to be played 10 times dubs would win the fixture 9/10.
Its just the way it is at the moment.

i personally think donegal would have beaten them numerous times last year if the same match was played over and over..dublin were too gung ho and left themselves completely open...people have to remember it wasnt a narrow win..it was comprehensive

Go way outta tha' Kingdomboy..

Young lads like Kieran Donaghy (32), Aidan O'Mahony (35), Marc O'Se (35), Darran O'Sullivan (29), Bryan Sheehan (30)....and don't forget that the team will be bolstered by the return of several other youngsters like Colm Cooper (32) and Paul Galvin (35). Rumour has it that the Bomber Liston was seen out stretching on the beach at Ballybunion last week. No stone will be left unturned in Eamonn Fitzmaurice's search for the two in a row.

Noone is saying that donegal are on a par with dublin royaldunne. What is been said is that donegal would not lose to dublin 9 times out of 10. There is a difference.

I also think that saying the likes of tipp, waterford, limerick or clare might well go toe to toe with the lower divisions, but they never will beat anyone from division 1 or 2. the last time this happened was in 1992. That is a long time ago. So Kerry/Cork will be looking at a munster final as a certainty again this year. to say that the gap is closing between the weaker counties and the stronger ones is old hat. The reality is that the smaller counties train all year for the big game of their lives against kerry or cork, and might push them. But in the end, it will come out of the wash as per usual.
