Help, I'm trying to decide whether to watch the 2nd half of this puke football Dublin v Cork or watch the grass growing in my lawn outside

Dubs want it more , cork aren't interested at all but it's hard to blame them when it's only the league. But dubs again proving they are a league team fair play to them and I suppose it'l take the pressure off Jim Gavin if things don't work out for his team in the championship.

If dublin win this it will mean that in all 4 divisions the team that topped the table didn't win the league. What a joke that is. If it's a league then there's no need for finals. Give the cup to the team that finishes top

Richie q...

You are just going to have to accept that some games are going to be defensive, and others are going to be exciting. What annoys me is the negativity surrounding the game now, every time a game doesn't please the neutral, we end up with countless whinging posts, and Joe Brolly rants. Does nobody else remember the All Ireland semi finals of last year? Some of the Tipp footballers classic qualifier matches last summer?Dublin v Kerry in 2013? Those games weren't bad were they? Remember these fellas are amateurs, and have to clock in at 9.00am tomorrow, just like the rest of us, they're not machines.

Anyways Richie q cheer up, Dubs 8 points up, and Meath are going to have us all on the edge of our seats this summer.......

Richieq exactly. Its cause we love football these defensive games are ruining it.

The problem with the two games today is not that they are defensive games, neither game, especially the Div1 final, are particularly defensive.
The reasons today's games are such poor spectacles are
1 Players are not that bothered.
2 Supporters are not that bothered
3 Croke Park is 2/3 empty.

The knockout stages of the league are not working & need sorting.

Jesus lads in all fairness this is embarrassing, Cork are touching on their Munster Final performance of last year here at the minute, God be with the days when the League meant something, it wasn't Championship but it was still a great thing to win, I always thought so anyway. Cork are showing 0% interest in this and Dublin are just going through the motions, I doubt any player on the pitch would appreciate a National League medal today and that's kind of sad, the competition has been the guinea pig of the GAA for too long and its importance has been wiped out.

This dreadful match proves that there is a lot to be said for a tight, defensive game. If every team rolled over and played like Cork, Kerry and Dublin would steamroll it every year. Cork, as they have shown over the years against Kerry, can be easily mentally intimidated on the big stage and are often beaten before the ball is thrown in. Give me Donegal and Tyrone's in your face tactics any day of the year over this boring. turgid, after you Claude shooty in practice for Dublin.

I totally agree, as far as I'm concerned the team that top the league are the champions.

I concur with that statement and everything else you said.

Its hard to get excited - but a 2/3's full croke park is not to be sniffed at.

The play offs and knock out formats should be abolished. Ruining the league. Cork didn't give a hoot and Dublin hardly out of second gear. A league medal means about as much to these lads as a trip to the lav after a indian

Is this the same cork team yez all put in the top six teams in the country at the moment. That's as good as they are.

Some serious good excuses here!

Cork will arrange challenge matches between now and Championship. If you cant be bothered about a National League final then why bother arranging challenge matches? What is the purpose of these matches?

Cody asks his players to play in the moment, take the jersey and keep it. Surely the full Cork team playing today aren't guaranteed their place on the team. If not then when and how do they intend showing the manager how good they are?

Let's face it, Cork do better roll overs than the Romanian and Chinese Olympic gymnastics teams.

Being in the top six doesn't really mean anything as outside of the top three everything is kind of on a par.

Well for a start get rid of the semi finals in an eight team competition.

just shows how pointless these league finals are...dont see why whoever comes top of the table cant just be declared the winner?...no need for the extra games in front of empty stadium

Being in the top six means you have a good chance of reaching the all Ireland semi-finals, based on the logic that you are one of the best six teams in the competition. The point is that most people have rated Cork in their short list to win the All Ireland in a recent thread rating the top six teams at the moment. When you rate anything outside the top three as kind of on a par is that wishful thinking

If you top your division you win the league, this semi and finals are a waste of time

dont fool yourselves Cork will be back. they are obviously concentrating on preparations for the championship and havent put much emphasis on the league final. League final appearance no good last weekend in August. Its all about Championship.
