Price of an O'Neill's Football

(Oldest Posts First)

Guys, I can tell you categorically that no footballs - O'Neills or otherwise are made in Ireland. Having worked in the industry for a long time I know for 100% fact that all balls come from the India/Pakistan/Vietnam regions. So the argument in favour of buying O'Neills keeps people in work in Strabane is totally invalid. To that end, almost all the leisurewear/kit bags/equipment fall into the same category. The only gear that has to be made in Ireland, and that is enforced, is the actual jersey players take to the field wearing. Shorts and socks are not regulated, and can come from anywhere. Again all replica is made abroad. Why would the GAA possibly be different to all other industries in Ireland who can't afford local manufacturing costs. Its a pity that we can't support more local businesses, but the truth is quite simply that all the kit & equipment you are wearing is coming from outside Ireland.
