Dublin GAA losing some great men over the last couple of years

-----
Was thinking the same thing. They don't make them like Dave any more or like others from that Heffo era.

RIP Dave.

They are the type that made Dublin GAA great , every club has them , someone me own Dad whos in his 80s would describe as a read Dub , as opposed to what I never found out .
Club servants, county servants , in my own club we have a character I think hes 124 at least , but he will and has done anything , 20 odd years ago team playing an intermediate final and in he goes and splashes holy water on the very bemused players .Just off the phone from a staunch Vincents lad and from what he was telling me Billings was a REAL DUB .

I played for Dave when I was in UCD. Absolutely the nicest GAA man you could meet. Down to earth. 100% committed to all the clubs he was associated with. Cared about every player right down to the guys who were never good enough to play regularly. Knew everyones name. Had a very short chat with him before a Walsh cup game this year and he hadn't changed a bit in 15years. He will be very sadly missed.

Bumped into him yesterday evening around 8:30 after st vincents v ballyboden hurling game in UCD. He hopped off his bike to wish a few of us well in our exams and was already talking about winning with UCD next year. He was kind to everyone, full of encouragement and loved the banter. He will be sorely missed. RIP

What an absolute gent and an amazing contribution to gaa way beyond Dublin. Through Football, mens and womens in UCD, hurling and camogie and of course through Vincents and Dublin as well...a sad sad loss to the gaa community. Very few characters like him left. Condolences to his family. RIP Dave.

Thats an awful shock, he was a sound man and great craic altogether, always had time for a chat, even with people he barely or didnt know. he first time i met him was when i was about 10, walking through town with our hurleys, he stopped us to have a look at them and test them out a bit, met him loads of times after, and always had a bit of craic.
he will be sorely missed

R.I.P wore his heart on his Dublin sleeve. The kind of man that makes Dublin great. Great Dublin man and Dublin fan,and not one bit objective about it!!
