Kerry's route to the last 8 : so easy !

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Kerry played four Ulster counties in the league this year , they won two , drew one and lost one - THAT would not win an Ulster championship so my original post was to state how complex it was . They might win two tough games but to win 3-4 EVERY single year is tough. That doesn't mean they are not the aristocrats or the standard bearers , it just means they have it handier than us boys . If Tyrone , Down or Tyrone etc had to play Cork every year from 1900, I'm sure we would have a few extra championships picked up . Ok , sure lets see how attend the first rounds .

I really do think the winners of Ulster should go straight into the All Ireland semi final and the runner up into the Qtr final. Based on League rankings at present. Most of the counties in Ulster are in Div 1 and Div 2. I'm from Laois so no vested interest in it for me. I just believe in fair play.

People are jealous and envious of success so these threads about Kerry getting it easy or some form of whinging about The Dubs or Kerry will always emerge.

Nothing got to do with jealousy its about fair play and a fair go for everybody.

The current provincial system is outdated and suits about fives teams Mayo, Galway, Cork, Kerry and Dublin. The other 27 counties should push hard for an open championship. The provincial championship does nothing for the development of the game.

Kerry have takenthe best advantage of the system and fair play to them but I am an open draw believer with a back door. This has to be done in hurling also as there are only 2 provinces

Always loved Kerry football, and can't wait to see the Gooch back in full flow, but contrast their path with what Donegal and Tyrone have to face; white-hot rivalry right from the start. Kerry can plan for August, others have to fight to get there. An unfair sytsem, but too many vested interests involved to change it

To Befair and All:

Tell me why my 'Double 16' does not address your concern of fairness ?

'Double 16' of Prov 16 SFlists and TMC/Qual Rd 1 of 16
Prov 16 plays 3 KO rounds to get 2 'front door' teams to AI QFs
Losers in quantities of 8, 4 & 2 enter Qualifier Rds 2, 3 & 4, respectively

Qual Rd 1/ T Murphy Cup teams play 4 KO rounds to determine the T Murphy Cup champ who gains 1 'side door' QF berth
Initial losers of 8 & 4 (3rd chance) enter Qualifier Rds 2 & 3, respectively

Qualifiers - Rds 1, 2, 3 & 4, with quantities (derived above) of 16, 16, 16 & 10 teams.
5 Rd 4 winners get 5 'back door' AI QF berths.

If the 4 byes teams in the Muns/Conn SFs go head-to-head in 2-legged SFs, all teams are guaranteed a minimum of 3 matches above (with no 'dead rubbers').

If my Auntie was my Uncle and had a ....
I reckon it's an OCD now with some
Or maybe I am wrong
Maybe the Armagh 82 side would have won the 5 in a row that year
Or Down would have dine the ten in a row in the 60's
Mayo in Ulster - sure we would never get outta there
The skill on show would batter us into submission
