Diarmuid Murtagh, How good can he be?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Let the young guys be judged on their merits. Many an underage "star" has fallen by the wayside. Let them enjoy football.....theres enough pressure without expectancy.

Agree JayP on this sentiment.

Admittedly I haven't seen this young lad play so can't comment on how good he is though there are some glowing reports on here from those who have. Looking at the fixtures may need Roscommon to get to the Connacht Final to get my first viewing of him (unless RTE decide to show the London match or the semi against Sligo - assuming the Rossies get past London).

Wouldn't be a massive fan of a thread like this. Murtagh is a massive talent without a doubt but there are many more young players making waves such Galways Comer, Donegals McBrearty, Numerous young lads from Dublin and Enda Smith and Ultan Hearney in Roscommon. All of these players have potential to get All-Stars and all have potential to become burnt out or just fail to maintain the standards.

Have not seen this young lad play yet but looking for ward to it. Great to see a small county in terms of population like Roscommon do so well. It seems the young players available to the county are in the top 5 or 6 counties in the country? What are Roscommon doing to produce these lads? Is it the schools, clubs, development squads or just coincidence? Other smaller counties* should look to replicate.
*please note when I say small I mean purely in terms of population and not a derogatory term!
