The most pleasing thing for us is that we put in a 70 minute performance. We haven't done that in a long time. Patrick McBrearty must have one of the best left feet in the business. Hugh McFadden had a good game, as did Eamon McGee. Obviously we came up short, but there was loads of fight in us. We also played a reasonable brand of football which was good too.

But to be honest, I'd rather you were all writing about how ugly we played but won the match than applaud us for playing a reasonable, but losing, brand of football.

It leaves us in a pretty grim position to get at least 3 points from Tyrone and Mayo.

It does not leave us in a grim position. It leaves us in a position that if we beat Tyrone at home, unless Mayo hammer us in the last game, or Tyrone hammer kerry at home and we lose to mayo, that we are going to stay up. So its in our hands.

I also think that we are going to play a lot more of this type of a game. We did v Cork and Derry in the 2nd half of each game. And when we did v Kerry in tralee, we looked very good. I would say that we are in new territory, and it is not a bad thing at all. It means that the likes of Monaghan, Tyrone etc will be confused as how to play us now. We shall see. Looking forward to the next game anyhow one way or the other. ps, I would not wish to see results continually born out of a pure blanket strategy. It is not good enough to watch this and we will get our rewards with the new game no doubt about it.

I was thinking the same thing my self, how can he be having so much trouble with a round ball , something he's been kicking since he was 2-3 years old, but it's not just his kicking I expected him to come back from oz and be physically imposing but he was easily jostled off the ball in games as well ( fairly I might add ) but I can't see him making much of an impression in this years championship but hopefully he will in 2016. Luckily we're not stuck for forwards this year so he has time.
As for David Moran it's hard to imagine that he wasn't even a starter for us in the quarterfinal against Galway last year he only got his chance coz Sheehan got injured after 5 mins. It was a big turning point for us.

I'd agree Kingdom Boy, though there isn't an ounce of fat of him, he looks somehow physically less imposing than before. He was playing as a wing-back in Australia, so perhaps his training was tailored towards speed and endurance. Perhaps the kicking thing is just a bit of rustiness, which will correct itself in time.

I'd say your probably right bout tommy, he is fair skinny, he needs some of his mothers bacon and cabbage I think, but the thing is I haven't even seen him going that fast either but we'll keep the faith in him and that Eamon has a plan for him.

I agree about Tommy Walsh struggling I posted the other day about that but give him time im sure he'll come good but what I don't agree with is some of you saying he doesn't look big for me he looks like the Incredible Hulk he's bigger than ever IMO he need to cut down on the bacon and cabbage cause it looks like his pace is gone.

Re Tommy Walsh, I'm not sure how much time it'll take, but the rustiness with the round ball will dissapate soon I'm sure. He looked like her was having difficulty judging the flight of the ball which can be all the harder on a grey murky day like we had in Tralee on Sunday. The flight of the Aussie Rules ball is obviously much different and he has spent the last 5 years getting used to it in a professional setting, which was probably bordering on overload.

The guy is a class act, he'll come good.

Well in fairness it was into August in 2009 before Kennelly was able to demonstrate his potential and he was still playing a bit of football with Listowel during his years in Australia so these take time. But I would like Tommy to show some glimpses of potential before the end of the League.

One big difference between Kennelly and Walsh is that Kennelly was only back for one year, whereas with Walsh being back for good you have to look at it as a much longer-term project.

With Walsh you are looking at someone who is likely to be around the Kerry setup for the next 5 years.

At the moment he's only back in action 2/3 months so it's not a surprise he's looking rusty.
