Pingcity. Harnan, Wallace bros, mcgill, rowe, ward, Rooney, Flanagan, mcentee (James) , osullivan, Dixon , that's 11 would you agree more than a few???? As for jr, why when people state the obvious is it making excuses???. Look we are very depleted but we still will have enough for the likes of Westmeath or Longford for that matter, how can i be so sure of this? I live in Westmeath and coach underage in county, the best under 21 aren't even on the panel. 2012 Meath reached all ire minor final, think its fair to say we would be easily in the top 4 if everyone was on panel.

Foolsgold its a legitimate question and i don't know the answer, its not viewed as similar important as senior or minor, we have ever only won one 21 title, compared to the minors and senior titles that is some discrepancy.

What does it say about the overall Meath senior strength in depth when they have to rely on U21s to win div 2 games? Surely Meath have guys in their mid 20s to fill in and let the younger players develop in their own time.

The U21 games on Wednesday and NFL games on Sunday no reason why the u21s can't play in both afterall they have done already with their colleges I'm sure.

Pundit firstly the senior team has been wrecked with injuries to likes of Kevin Reilly Gillespie O'Rourke and i could go on, so we had little choice unfortunately, and a Wednesday game followed by Sunday wouldn't be too bad but its Sunday in Roscommon for seniors Wednesday with u21 in Mullingar, Sunday v Westmeath in navan. Bit too much for young lads, in fairness to mod he is building a very talented young squad, average age v Kildare was 23, and if you took out Stephen bray who is in his 30s its a lot less.

Royaldunne did you get your Westmeath passport yet? You must be entitled to one at this stage.

Ziggy that's exactly it that's 15/16 lads and im sure i left one or two out, and then im suppose to be making excuses? I don't know, some people, its a good chance for those on the peripheral of the panel to make a name for themselves, but its a hard time for the under 21s.

In regards to our Hastings cup game against Meath in Jan i was very disappointed that our lads traveled all the way to Ashbourne for that total non contest that was no use to us moving forward. Every team were missing players in the Hasting cup the team we lined out with had no more than 4 or 5 possible championship starters. Meath were also hammered by Kerry,Cavan if the Longford GAA have any sense Meath shouldn't be allowed into next year competition someone like Louth should replace them as they would love to play competitive football before the U21 championship.

Reading back on this thread clondalkindub do you normally post like a 12 year old or just making a special case for this topic?

Ispeakwiadom, ironic name considering what you just posted.
And to add to that to then say clondalkin posts like a 12 after you posted that nonsense, pot kettle black.

Thanks for your reply annoying Meath poster.

What i said is the truth, that game was no use to us moving forward and having us traveling to it was the real nonsense. I know this is hoganstand and its probably too much to expect but Clondalkin could be a bit more mature with his posts on this thread.

We couldn't take Hastings cup seriously this year, with the list of injuries and those unavailable. It is what it is.

Ah Royaldunne plenty of coastline around the Wee County. I stand at the mount of the Boyne at Baltray and wave over to my Royal neighbours in Mornington. Even though Meath does not have much of a coastline, second shortest I believe after Leitrim.

I think some of those U21s that Meath posters have named as missing during Hasting cup are overage? either way Meath U16s would have given a better effort than Meath U21s that lined out against us a few weeks ago.

Last year we played Meath in the final with Nally,Murray,Murtagh,Smith etc playing no part and won well holding Meath to just 4 scores. Meath had C McCill,B Power,H Rooney,A Flanagan,J McEntee,S Mattimoe,J Wallace etc all playing in that game.

i really believe the gaa have to do something about overuse of young players
the u 21 grade is not the problem some teams might only play one or two championship games
the simple thing would be to leave under 21 lads with their own team till their knocked out
where are all the lads in their mid 20s can they not do withouth the u 21 lads for a while
evry few yrs i seee managers bringing in load of under 21 to senior planels
then getting rid of lads in their 20s and this process conntinueson on and on
it resulting in a huge turnover of players
its interesting the most sucessfull team around kilkenny didnt have one u 21 in the panel
and rarely throw young lads in to their team
dont think kerry had many either
most of their youngger players were 23 or 24

I think it will be the same 2 in the final againn. Roscommon and Dublin. I don't think we (Cavan) will get out of Ulster. I think Donegal will win it. Very Impressed with Roscommon this year. Seen them twice in the hastings cup. Only team that could challenge Dublin.
