Under 21's football

notimpressed - based on the theory that it'll be team with an U21 pedigree. I only included multiple all ireland winner. Cavan don't fall into that category. I didn't realize they were going for five in a row Ulster. Fairly impressive for underage. They have suffered under the Dublin/Galway dominance over the past five years

oh i agree but generally means you should have a solid bunch of players at the very least if they have been brought along correctly

Cavan unlucky last year should have beaten Dublin the All Ireland semi final and would have won the final. Cavan not as strong this year while Tyrone,Monaghan,Donegal are all capable of winning Ulster.

Connacht it looks like Mayo and Roscommon the two strongest but you can never write Galway off at this grade.

Leinster the Dubs on the easier side of draw but the only side capable of catching them on the hop in Leinster is Kildare.

Munster Kerry the strongest team but will have to play Cork away which will be tough.

Dublin's All Ireland to lose harder to predict which side will face them in the All Ireland final.

my own view on connacht one side my own roscommon will cruise by sligo for the final as we have alot of players from last year panel and including my own cousin on the team . on the other hand of the draw on the 11th of march leitrim could put up a real challenge against mayo in there home territory i say because after last year leitrim beating galway all ireland champions in carrick. but would face galway again in the semi-final again. i say it be roscommon v leitrim in the connacht final .

In munster i say it be a cork v tipperary final, even tough kerry were unclucky in the hastings and managed by o shea

in leinster it between dublin v kildare

in ulster i would say cavan but i say it be between donegal v tyrone , cavan i dont know why this year just have a feeling of donegal after there good success and getting into the all ireland final and were just unlucky against kerry,

Shoulda Woulda Coulda...... The best team by a country mile won last years championship and that was without Kilkenny and Carty wow Id put that team up against any previous U 21 winners and Id be very confident we'd beat them all.

Are you basing your total judgement on last years Dublin U21s from the All Ireland final? TBH that was more about our defensive shambles in the 1st half more than anything else. Dublin weren't that impressive in the semi final against Cavan or against Meath in the Leinster final i was at both games. Kilkenny,Carty were part of the Dublin U21s that lost to Longford 2013 so my point is more to teams than big named/known players.

Dublin 2012 was all round better U21 team in my opinion won each game in Leinster comfortably the only real testing game you got was in the final against us and still won by 7 points or be it a rather flattering scoreline. Galway 2011 also better probably one of the most solid and most orgainsed underage teams i have ever seen.

You tried to go toe to toe with the greatest U 21 team ive ever seen and it back fired completely ,nothing to do with "defensive shambles" you just can't hold players of the class of Mannion Costello McHugh Scully etc at U 21 level and imagine if Kilkenny and Carty were playing sweet lamb of god.

Mannion Costello McHugh Kilkenny etc were all on Dublin minor team that lost to Tipperary. Cavan were the better team in last years U21 semi final and deserved to win however the Dubs got the rub of green and was clear their name was on the trophy after that game. Little did they guess they would get an open invitation to scoring as the way Roscommon set themselves up in defence for the All Ireland final was ridiculous and they didn't help themselves by missing a penalty when the game was still in balance either.

I agree with the above the 2012 Dublin team was better and a final that Roscommon actually went toe to toe.

The best U-21 team was the Tyrone one of 2000 to 2001.

Cavan were not the better team they parked the bus but couldn't hold out in the end cause Dublins superior players stood up, I'm calling the Dublin U 21 team of 2014 the best team ive ever seen not the 2013 21 team or the minor team ok posters.

Parked a bus? No Cavan stood toe to toe and defended well. The dubs got over the line with some very dubious decisions. If they are the best u21 side you have seen then you haven't been following this grade very long and I wouldn't be surprised if Dublin have a better team this year also.

Yeah of course Cavan went toe to toe with us just like Donegal go toe to toe with everyone ha, missing Kilkenny n Carty and still won by 9 points scary team.

Kerry team who went back to back in 1995 and 1996 was one of the best u21 teams I can remember.

Cant see Meath doing much , no osullivan or James mcentee add to that Rooney Wallace Flanagan etc are all involved in senior. Very hard to see us progress.

All Ireland Final will be Roscommon and Dublin again this year.Have a feeling Roscommon will eventually get better of the Dubs this year. They have the better individual players this year so if they gel and management get tactics right i cant see them been stopped.

Hard to do back to back...

How many U-21's did Dublin lose from last year?

They still should be very competitive though...

Although Leinster will be no push over... there's a decent crop of young Kildare lads at present

I'll put my money on Kerry.. but I don't bet.. so I'll just say Kerry

You coulda woulda shoulda beaten Cavan Meath by a country mile if that was the case. One shoot the lights performance doesn't make a side great either ask cork in 2011they hammered Kerry and good number of those Kerry lads have since played for their seniors.

More like mother of god we didn't get remotely close to going to to toe because of how we set ourselves up. For the record our own Diarmuid Murtagh scored more from play in that final than Mannion,Costello,Scully scored from play combined. Granted McHugh had a great game however dig deeper and you will see he only scored a total of 0-10 in all of his games going into that final which backs my point up on our defensive shambles.

We'll have our work cut out to get out Connacht never mind reaching another AI final. Mayo pushed us all the way in the recent Hasting cup semi final and Mayo played that game without their seniors Gallagher,Coen,O Connor,Durcan. Galway will be much improved when their seniors and Corofin lads return and Sligo who we play first are no mugs either their 2012 minor team got within one score of Mayo in Machale park and that Mayo side should have reached the AI final.
