rubbish richieq
there was as many in parnell park as there was in pairc ui rinn last night to see cork v kilkenny
where hurling is the biggest game in both of those counties
was almost a full house in parnell today what more are you looking for
from a support base that had 2 thousand max at league games 5 or 6 years ago

Good win for Ger Cunningham's team. Both sides hit a lot of wides so a lot to work on for both of them.

also the hurlers and footballers are all in the same sponsorship deals
its dublin gaa
that counts football hurling ladies football and camogie
stop trying to make football in dublin look like a big bad bully to hurling
hurling support has grown evidently over the years and most of these people are gaa supporters
long may it exist that people support all games
but just because some people prefer football to hurling doesnt mean they should be cast out as bad people
its the other way around in several counties and I dont hear you having a go at people
rome wasnt bult in a day
if we had the same amount turning up after a few games as the football
you would be on here slating dublin hurling support as bandwagoners

Great performance from the Dubs today. Surprised to see them run rings around a strong Tipp team. Early days but showing well under Ger Cunningham.

No, I would never call anyone who supports this team a bandwagoner I would call them genuine supporters and what I can't figure out is why more don't attend their games when they have been producing performances like today over the past number of years and winning trophies into the bargain. Now what's the capacity of Parnell Park, about 10'000 or so maybe 12'000?? Now we often hear when it comes to Dublin's funding that in excess of 1 million people live in the Capitol and this figure is used to justify the grants Dublin get, fair enough!! But explain to me how it is that out of the population in excess of 1 million that 10 or 12 thousand hurling supporters couldnt be found to fill Parnell Park today, I'm not having a go I just find it hard to explain. That Dublin hurling team has given Dublin, and hurling in general, some great times in recent years and their renaissance was welcomed by everyone all over the country, except by everyone in Dublin it seems. As for Cork and Kilkenny well they are old hands at this stage and neither county has the population or supposed support base the Dubs have. Additionally when you are as successful as Kilkenny are and when as a supporter you know your going to have a good few trips up the M9 come the summer which cost considerable money I think you may be entitled to a day or two off during the league, it doesn't cost much to get to Donnycarmey or Croke Park from anywhere in the county of Dublin so that comparison is a little off I think. My main point is this Dublin hurling team deserve better, I admire them greatly and have even shouted my support for them against the likes of Galway, Cork and Tipp etc and I'm a Meath man with strong Kilkenny blood in me, if I can acknowledge this teams achievements and its performances then I can't understand how more Dublin supporters don't.

if we went from 2 thousand at league games to 20 thousand after a successfull year
I would defo call them bandwagoners or glory huntrs whatever term you want to use.
parnell holds 10 thousand and was 90% full haha what are you actually looking for here?
because not everybody in dublin likes hurling, whats hard to understand about this
cork get 1 thousand at football home games because not everybody in cork likes football
cork have a far bigger support base in hurling than dublin has
anybody in the gaa knows that.
what are you on about dublin play away games too you know
every team has either 2 or 3 away matches each year in the league not just successfull counties.
as for your success means people dont bother going to these games is madness
dublin had 3 thousand supporters travel to cork for the football a few weeks back and we have won the league the last two years.
there was 23 thousand in croker last week too.
your fixated on dublin but what about the meath hurlers, do they get the same support as meath footballers?

Bloody hell.. That was great laugh!

Fantastic performance if not a bit all over the shop near the end

Kilkenny just desperately lobbing in hopeful ball and in fairness it's all they could do

Great win and another hugely valuable 2 points in our quest to stay in the Div

Sure talk will start now about winning it...

Up The Dubs... what a great win away from home against the AI Champs

On we go...

It was mad stuff last 15 minutes. I thought it was going to be like three years ago when Dublin seemed to have them beat and same thing. Hail Mary shots leading to goals. You could see them relaxing. Lads were not tracking back when ball was lost. Backs stood up well in fairness. Slacking was mainly further up the field.

Great win. Absolutely delighted despite falling asleep for the last 20 mins!

Good man David Treacy also. Super performance, Lambert back in was a huge plus too!

2 wins from 2 games is brilliant!

Very assured performance for most of the game by the Dubs. I didn't see much of the game V Tipp last week but on today's evidence the jury's still out on Liam Rushe at full forward (although he did largely cancel out Paul Murphy's dominance). That aside, great balance in the team now. Dillon & Treacy seem to be playing way above themselves & I presume now there's a lot more strength in-depth with Paul Ryan, Boland, McCaffery & Dotsy in reserve.

Keeper7 your probably right about the jury out on Rushe at full forward but he's going up today against the best back in the game right now in Murphy and I thought he did well enough so maybe a little harsh to judge him on today's game as he wont be going up against a player of Murphy's ability every week.

A valuable two points today, a bit crazy near the end, just got to believe in themselves and see the game out. Pluses thought David Treacy was great, Dillon and Cronin done well, Sutcliffe was excellant too. Some of the over passing cost Dublin and doing that across your own goal is really asking for trouble. Not sure about Rushe upfront and Keaney was ropey at times. A great start and some lovely passage of play.

Lastly ref, very harsh on Farrell, other two reds no real problem with them, but some very strange ref calls on both teams.

But a great start and two televised games on the spin will do wonders for the small ball in Dublin.

Yes, we do miler. Perhaps we should be going around saying it doesn't matter, or making little of it. You only get one life so make the most of it. In 50 years on this earth I've seen the Dublin hurlers beating the Cats 5 times, four of them in the last four years. I had uncles and a grandfather who played with Dublin between 1920s and 70s. Never beat them once. I'm fked if I'm going to pretend I am not extremely happy about today :-)

Some of the hurling in the first 50 minutes was a joy to watch. Treacy, Dillon , Kelly looked sharp. Id stick with Rushe upfront , although he slipped a bit today ,he causes opposing managers a headache. Danny is class but had to go in a moment of madness .
Mikey at 3 and Peter at 6 id be happy with. Sloppy last 15 mins is probably no harm , keeps feet firmly on the round.
2 wins from 2 at the expense of last years 2 AllIreland finalists is s nice start, but more importantly seeing some of the younger lads looking good is encouraging.

Indeed we are loving it. And judging from this forum at least it is upsetting a few of our country cousins which is a nice bonus! ;)

Good post hurlingdub.

This league is very tight. Every team's objective is first to stay in it as the difference between finishing top and bottom is very small (we finished bottom two years ago by losing the same amount of games as the ultimate winners!-two draws were the deciding fcator). Dublin are the first team to achieve that feat. That is the first reason to be happy.

Whatever about the result, Dublin were the better team in the first 25 minutes when both sides had 15 players. The next reason to be happy.

The sending off was very harsh and it helped Dublin for a while. The second sending off seemed to derail Dublin and made them sloppy. Something to ground you and make you improve is another reason to be happy.

You can now look at extending this run. We're next. We improved a lot in the second game. I hope we can become more physical. I look forward to a tough game. Cunningham will be desperate to win this game more than any other. I am sure of that. A loss would put us back in trouble. I expect an intense game. Hopefully we will win and end your happiness!!
