Do the likes of Chelsea or Man Utd go jumping up and down when they win the charity shield? That's what any win in the league equates to.

A lame soccer analogy is a very poor response.

Even though Limerick is considered a hurling county.. hurling is still a ways behind rugby and soccer.. especially in the city where more than half the population of the county live.

Joxer I'd imagine the area in limerick thats considered football country probably has a smaller population than lietrim..

Predicted all the winners correctly, I thought Limerick would win by more but I got that one wrong. As much as it's a good win for Dublin, I wouldn't read too much into it. Kilkenny missing around 8 starters. As I said earlier, I expect Kilkenny to struggle in the league. I can see them maybe beating Galway at home but can't see them beating Tipp or Clare.

I don't agree that the league isn't important. It would give a team great confidence and momentum going into the championship. Must Counties will play challenge games preparing for the first round so you're better off staying in the league and having some tough games to be in the latter stages.

Beating Laois has turned out to be huge for us. I can't see Laois winning any game in the league this year now.

He would indeed realdub!

I can just imagine poor Mike and Oldtour if Limerick meet Kilkenny in the play offs and beat them. It would be worse than getting beaten really. They would probably fast for two weeks on black tea and dry bread and wear a hairshirt to guard against something terrible and mad like maybe fkn enjoying it. Good lads :-)

Sorry I don't get the comparison. Are you comparing two of the most successful soccer teams in England over the past three decades with tonnes of silverware under their belt to Dublin?

Dublin are still a second tier hurling county. Hammering the second best county in the country at home in the league followed by a virtual double scores victory over the best team in the land, away, to almost secure top flight status is the equivalent of Aston Villa dishing out heavy defeats to Man City and Chelsea to bring them within a whisker of a champions league spot. Fair enough no trophy dished out but the league start is something to get excited about. Counties like Dublin, Limerick, Wexford have to step up and break the Cork, Tipp, Kilkenny troika. A victory for any of these counties against the top flight is good IMO. Div 1A is very competitive this year. Maybe you can let us know what it's like down in 1B? Limerick sitting 3rd and let's hope they don' t treat the remaining games like Charity Shield matches or they may mind themselves in 2A before they know it!

Kilkenny v Dublin - Kilkenny
Tipperary v Galway - Tipperary

Offaly v Wexford = Wexford (hopefully!)
Antrim v Limerick = Limerick (not as comfortably as one might think!)

Cork v Clare - Cork
Waterford v Laois - Waterford

Pinkie!!!!

Eh...hold on a minute lad!!!

Just nice to win, Nobody getting carried away Kilkenny in championship a different animal. But if ye havent won in Nolan park for 50 years i think a few lads are allowed to have a smile on their face. We hurled well bar last 15 mins and going forward that is encouraging , relegation fears are hopefully eased early in campaign and we can look forward positively ,
Charity shield has nothing to do with yesterdays or any league game.
But if it makes you feel better thats fine.

For a team(Kilkenny) that doesn't take the league seriously they've won some amount of games and titles imagine how many more they would have won if they'd taken it seriously.

Proportionately, the same applies in Dublin black spot. That's the point I'm making. Football is much bigger than hurling in Dublin, hence the reason why some Limerick lads may be thinking that the Dubs are losing the run of themselves on here. It's a reason for the Dub hurling fans to jump up and down for a bit. Think Limerick footballers hammering Dublin at home and then outplaying Kerry in Killarney.

Doyler, you have restored my faith in Wexford men.A quick glance and you have indeed struck the jackpot!Together with predicting Waterford and Limerick to draw and Wexford to beat Antrim by a solitary point in Round 1 it is,to be fair, incredible predicting that will have Messrs Power @ Boyle quaking in their boots.I will be following your Round 3 predictions with keen interest and will be confident of withdrawing a sizeable amount of filthy lucre from the aforementioned businesses of ill repute.Very impressive.
