It is great to see a college winning the Sigerson Cup that has player or players on the panel, coming from so many different counties, including Dublin, Louth, Longford, Laois, Wicklow, Galway, Roscommon, Leitrim, Cavan, Monaghan, Armagh and Tipperary. Some of these counties do not have much success on the football field and it is nice to see players from these counties winning a treasured Sigerson medal.

Great to see two universities in the final as opposed to IT's.

Congrats to Conor McGraynor on winning the sigerson cup with DCU.Great winning point yesterday and his catch for the penalty on Friday against UCD in the last minute was breathtaking

ON THE MOVE- Well I dont like this new football and from your analysis of the final I can see that you are probably involved in coaching.Maybe not but regardless the modern trend leaves me cold.Over analysis, too much emphasis on stats and this obsession with recycling and retaining possession leads many games turning into nothing more than boring repetetive monotonous plays starting at the 20 metre slow progressing down the field and when the irrestible force meets the immovable object the weary player in possession usually at the behest of the restless crowd takes a shot from about 40 metres out and usually misses(stats say 72.4% attempts fail from this distance)Gaelic football is a spontaneous game and is at its best when played in that manner but like a lot of other field games has fallen foul(pardon the pun) of the modern yearning for total control of every conceivable situation. Back to the ''great final'' answer honestly how many fouls were committed and went unpunished in that match?

So what is your suggestion MAgpie, do players go back to training twice a week, grow back their bellies, and hope that we could have a game again?

I am not sure there is a way back, unless there is rule change, or rule enforcement, in which a team is awarded frees when they are really being made in which case another team would be forced to chase a game thus opening it up. I have been at my fair share of games where the ref ballances decisions, and keeps the thing on a knife edge for most of the game. There is nothing quite like a 3 or 4 point gap to open things up.

The sigerson cup should go back to what it was supposed to be- elite academic competition.

Its too wide acompetition now and takes up far too much space and game time from players. The general gaa joe public don't give a hoot about it.
