DCU unbelievably lucky this weekend. But UCC really only have themselves to blame. Cox totally blew it at the end of normal time square_ball_69 (Westmeath) - Posts: 826 - 21/02/2015 17:00:58 1695520 Link 0 |
Exciting finish, but poor enough game overall. Thought Mickey Quinn deserved MOTM, was outstanding when introduced at start of second half imo!! maximus02 (Longford) - Posts: 169 - 21/02/2015 17:24:46 1695524 Link 0 |

If you check the report on journal.ie you'll get the players and counties. Good spread on DCU, 2 Dubs, 3 Rossies, Leitrim, Westmeath, Monaghan all represented. UCC team was all Cork and Kerry. Joxer (Dublin) - Posts: 4700 - 21/02/2015 18:31:23 1695551 Link 0 |

Mickey Quinn shudda got MOTM. IMO Was easily the games most dominant and best player when introduced. That was his first bit of game time in awhile as he has been out injured the last few weeks with a hamstring injury which makes his display even more impressive. maximus02 (Longford) - Posts: 169 - 21/02/2015 18:48:59 1695563 Link 0 |
mickey quinn is 25 back from afl came on yesterday and would surely be more hardened and would have expected to stand out than the likes of enda smith, conor daly, and mc hugh young lads 20 and 21 who are after playing far to much football the last 2 days they looked absolutely exhausted 10 minutes into it neither mc hugh or smith showed that they are probably two of the top young players in Ireland a very weird competition that should probably be played off in the month of january imo instead of entering the fbd o byrne cup etc and span it out over the 4 weeks instead of playing 2 huge matches in 2 days I wouldnt expect some of them real young lads to be back right for weeks possibly months OhtobeARossie (Roscommon) - Posts: 1764 - 21/02/2015 19:03:24 1695565 Link 0 |

In response to the above commentt from "OhToBeARossie"... the young lads won't be right for months?? calm down, they didn't get attacked and beaten up.. sure they will be very tired, exhausted and deserve some good recuperation time but if playing 2 games in a 2 days means months or recovery then I would hate to have seen your reaction and dramatic conclusions when Sigerson was played out over 3 days, Quarters Thursday, Semi's Friday and Final Saturday..... ross4sam11 (Roscommon) - Posts: 96 - 21/02/2015 19:56:09 1695576 Link 0 |
If the experts are to be believed this is supposed to be the 'creme de la creme' of Gaelic football. Well if it is then Im off cream for the foreseeable future. Maggiepie (Sligo) - Posts: 231 - 21/02/2015 20:23:06 1695585 Link 0 |
Well done all the rossies on their sigerson cup win all played a huge part in that success throughout the tournament. Well done to P Scott and Colin Compton on their Trench cup win. Compton produced motm display with 0-8 outshone Kilkenny,Costello today. The_analyser (Roscommon) - Posts: 3767 - 21/02/2015 20:26:40 1695588 Link 0 |
Haha Maggiepie, you obviously have no appreciation for the complete game and the art of football. While there was a number of poor wides throughout the game, particularly from a few DCU dead ball plays, most of these wides came when shooting under great pressure from the opposition. And while both teams attacked with menace, speed and in good numbers I thought the defensive awareness of both teams to quickly shut down the space when they were having to back track towards there own goal (which is far from the blanket defences we have seen recently) was great to watch and very clever.. onthemove (Cavan) - Posts: 37 - 21/02/2015 20:40:04 1695594 Link 0 |
Relax OhtobeARossie! I just said that i thought Quinn should have been MOTM today. Thought he was outstanding today when he came on and he will never get the recognition he deserves playing for Longford. He had been injured the last month or so with a hamstring injury so is just back. I dont see the point in bringing up what age he is!! Enda Smith and Conor Daly are both quality young players.Smith in particular is top top notch and it was obvious he was shattered today. Id say he'll recover quick tho and wouldnt be surprised if he plays a stormer against Meath next week. He was outstanding against Down in their last game. Was Diarmuid Murtagh playing for Pats today? Knew he got MOTM in the trench last year.Id rate him even higher than Smith, scored 1-4 against Down and is up there with the best young footballers in the country! I fancy Ros for the U-21 this year, lots of top players in Murtagh,Smith, Daly's, Harney etc maximus02 (Longford) - Posts: 169 - 21/02/2015 20:43:59 1695595 Link 0 |
Maggiepie - Gaelic Football is more popular now than ever. Look at the growth of the game in Dublin,it is also now played in many countries overseas and is played by Non-Irish.
