I'm convinced I saw a yellow before the red but that was widely disagreed with by supporters around me. Looked like a trip/kick to me rather that a box. Either way it was self-indulgent and stupidity of the highest order as Dublin were on the attack after turning over possession and possibly on the way to win the game. Thought Dublin's discipline was poor all round actually. Any time they lost possession, which was a huge amount for Dublin (not sure tight pitch suited the kickout strategy of players running laterally across the field to make space), they gave away scorable frees. Good news I suppose is that Brennan, Flynn and Connolly would have made a big difference in that regard as they never really give it away.

G White blocked/delayed his run and he swung his boot at him, he did connect and the ref was looking at it and didn't have much choice. Good prep game for both teams

Mdmc i think kicked out at the player as he was running by, although i dont know what preceded it, either way stupid and could of lost us the game as we were on the attack at the time with scores level.
Shane Carthy looked good again today when he came on and John small was decent in defence. Emmet never stopped trying. All in all a decent game.

A Kildare player, Chalky White I think, stood in Macauley's way as a Dublin attack was developing, then as they both turned to follow the play down the pitch, Macauley kicked the legs from under him. A bit like Keegan's red in the All Ireland semi last year.

Yes we were a little over-eager at times, but it was good to show a bit of hunger at the start of the year, young lads showed well and that's what this is about for Dublin. Don't expect to beat Cork next week but we should win enough to stay up.

A very enjoyable game for January and a game we needed to get us up to speed for Down next week. Encouraging for us was the form and appetite of O'Grady, Kelly, Fitzpatrick & Doyle in defence, and the way we defended as a team in the second half, O'Connor got nothing out of o'Carroll and this limited our threat in 1st half, Fogarty kicked some terrific points when he came on. Both teams made lots of mistakes but we turned over the ball too easily, Dublin deserved the win as they were more of a threat consistently throughout, and in McMenamon had the real match winner, How Dublin don't always start him is a mystery. Credit to the effort of both teams , €10 was great value with the bonus of extra time. I'd say Dublin had maybe 8 or 9 of their championship 15 and we had 9 or 10, but the fringe players on both sides did well. Plenty to look forward to in the league, lots of work to be done but reasons to be optimistic

Kevin Mc was very good for us. Outside of Rock, and Carthy when he came on, probably our only real attacking threat. O'Gara could easily have walked also. Big gamble from Gavin leaving him on after his yellow as he was taking a lot of lip from the Kildare defenders and getting involved. Rory did pretty well on O'Connor and Small did well but Fitzy seemed to struggle again. A nod to Currie as well whose distribution was excellent.

Great competitive game to help us hit the ground running for the league next week.

I'm Emmett's biggest fan but I thought he was poor today Carty was way better when he came on , jackthedub yes Mccauley can be frustrating but the man plays championship no matter what he is one of our main men and for me is a starter always. The tight pitch didn't suit us at all but great to see us grind it out, Small was brilliant and Jacks surging runs were worth the admission fee alone, Kev Mac is a hero never stops trying but EOG is a red card waiting to happen every game he gets involved in crazy stuff for no reason.

Very good game of football.
Thought our accuracy was very good all day particularly in the first half where I don't think we kicked a single wide and used the ball really well compared to Kildare who had so much possession but continued the same style they have done for the last 5 or 6 years of insisting on having to hand pass the ball the whole way until they reach the Dublin 45.
Which allowed us turn them over time after time.
I don't think they even had a single shot from play up until their first point in 31 st minute. Second half changes just like last week in navan disjointed the whole Dublin game and almost costly as bastick and o conghaile were playing really well together, car thy done well going forward when he came in but McCauley was terrible.
For me culligan and fitzimons really improved on recent games and culligan held his nerve to get an equaliser.
John small should be first name on the team next weekend in cork. He has been our most consistent performer throughout the o Byrne cup, for a guy who wasn't even starting for Ballymun in club championship some turn around. O conghaile and bastick and car thy have all done their bit. For me brady was man of the match today I think he kicked 3 points and has really worked on fitness as he was covering the ground brilliantly. Kev Mac and dean rock shouldered much of the scoring from the other forwards with eoghan o gara again looking disinterested albeit getting goaded throughout by the lillies full back.
Good hard fought win with many of the fringe guys taking their chance of getting a starting jersey next weekend

Hill read on here the last 3 years im one of Emmett Connolly's biggest fans and I think he will be a great player for us but today he was poor he was switched from midfield at ht cause he wasn't at it and at half forward he wasn't much better, he kept battling but today was not a great game from him. One of these days will play against 14 men it has to happen eventually surely????

Lads McCauley misses o Byrne cup opener in 2016
Not out of league next weekend as not time based suspension anymore.
He deserved red as he lashed out at player after we had gone up the field with the ball and he almost cost us the game.
Said it all last year that he was very poor and needs to be dropped, if he is go get back to where he was before he won player of the year.
Can't see him in the team after the last two weekends regardless and Gavin is a firm believer in discipline and McCauley nearly costing the game today will surely feel the force of that

O conghaile was far better than McCauley who as I said all last year when he doesn't have a huge workrate is better off sitting in the stand. The difference when bastick came back in was huge.McCauley don't miss next weekend as he misses o Byrne cup 2016 opener but I wouldn't have him playing next weekend anyway
Don't understand the bit you say about playing 14?

Good, tough game of football - great showing of dubs supporters.
A lot of lessons learned, personally i found out newbridge has a penneys, tk maxx, a kfc and mcdonalds, as for the team...

Would think the MDMA criticisms are harsh - he defo gave dublin a lift when he came on.
before that i think the forwards really lacked midfield support pushing thru into attack and breaking kildares lines.
Ok the sending off was a pity but it was extremely soft. He was intentionally blocked off the ball.

Good win for the dubs but they lacked a bit of penetration in the absence of connolly, flynn, etc.
Jack Mc caffrey stepped up and Kev Mc did his bit but apart from that the dubs forwards were defo missing some bite.
Im a big fan of rock but he needs to show he's more than just a ball kicker.

Henry I thought the same the minute he came on the whole team got a lift from him obviously cause he was red carded some supporters have forgotten his impact.

He does inject pace and energy no doubt. His soloing is poor and he couldn't hit a barn door from ten yards with a football. Apart from that he is a very valuable member of the team. He just needs to keep the head. Every ball running player will receive treatment from defenders. Kevin Mc shakes it off, EOG and MDM have a tendency to react. Both could have walked yesterday.

some of ye are afraid to criticize players like mccauley
he was terrible all last year and pointed it out all year but nobody listened
and it came to a head against donegal where he was nowhere to be seen but amazingly didnt get taken off.
he caught the first ball when he came in yesterday and the crowd had a big cheer
but after that it was niggle after niggle and fouling the whole time
he didnt look fit either as he was puffin despite only coming on with 20 mins to go
he was the same in navan we lost midfield hugely when he came in.
we all want every player to play to his best and no doubt mccauley when on form is our best midfielder
but he hasnt been on form for a year now its time to take the blinkers off lads.
