I said it last Sept on a few GAA threads, and nobody properly clarified it, so I'm going to say it again Tommy Walsh has only 8 AI medals (how bad!). Yet all the media in Sept and now again list him as a "nine-time AI medallist." It's impossible unless I'm missing something as big as a sledgehammer in the middle if the skull!

JJ has 9 if he got one in 2006 when he was on crutches for the final!

To me the measure of a player isn't by the amount of medals that he has won but what he does on the pitch win, lose or draw.

Therefore,I'm as big a fan of Tommy Walsh as probably anyone, but when things don't add up they don't add up! And HS carries it and also did in Sept!

And best of luck Tommy, you all-time great in your retirement! More than earned!

Just to set the record straight,Tommy joined the KK panel as a 19 year old in 2002 and won an AI as a sub

Mooncat and Wicklow88, thanks for that. I didn't realize that he was a sub in 2002. He gave me so many hours of pleasure watching the way he hurled, the way it should be played.

Its TW and HS that you show kids when you tell them who to copy and aspire to , on the sideline Id many a row with Kilkenny fans who wore cat glasses were Tommy was concerned , theyd let him away and forgive him anything , but thats what you get with true greats , rough edges , a true genius . Any other county youd be saying they are going to struggle to replace but I know better than to make that prediction were Kk are concerned .
