Kings of September has to be the best of them Hermit. Even you would have to admit it's a great book.

Another great read, very Kerry-related, by an author who has taken a massive fall in people's opinions, rightly so. Dublin v Kerry by Tom Humphries,

Seeing as Christmas is hurtling towards us now, judging by telly adds anyway, was just wondering about people's thoughts about any good books on the GAA that people might be thinking of picking up for themselves/others for Christmas.

I always put a GAA book on my Christmas wishlist. This year it is;
Over the Bar: A Personal Relationship with the GAA by Breandán Ó hEithir,

Related to Kerry football. A few years ago my uncle gave me Princes of Pigskin: A Century of Kerry Football. There's alot of reading in it.

I heard Kings of September was good alright Red and Green, I must pick it up sometime. Yes in my humble opinion Dublin v Kerry was one of the best books ever written on the GAA. Humphries was such a fine writer and sports journalist, but understandably he is a person non grata now.

Princes of Pigskin: A Century of Kerry Football, is also a magnificent publication for anyone interested in the lives of some of the greatest players ever to play the game, its a pity they don't think of doing a more national version.

I own all 3 of those books, and can recommend all of them. Princes of Pigskin should be a must-own for any Kerry fan, and any neutral with an interest in the history of Kerry football. If I had to chose only one of the 3 to hang onto, it would be Princes of Pigskin.

The Hermit, I read O'Dwyer and Cody's books and now it makes sense. If I had known they were ghost written by Martin Breheny I wouldn't have bothered reading them. Maybe really successful people are dull.

I liked The Club by Christy O'Connor, another good book was The Managers by Daire Whelan. lar's was surprsisingly ok, Cusask's was fine, Duignan's was only ok.

This is being picky but if he's lied about this what else is bs, so I'm reading Paul Galvins book and I'm on the part were kerry play Dublin in '04 quarter final champo game and he starts going on about how kerry where out on the field after half time and the Dubs weren't and the Hill started singing coybib and in his head he started singing it in his had and that's how he embraced playing Dublin and how it drove him on to play better and so on but the only problem is the hill for that game in '04 was empty cause they were reconstructing it ffs , so his first every game against Dublin he makes up a big lie in his book ha. Good read all the same so far but how much is the truth ?
