Hope to see a strong Baile Atha Cliath support travelling to Beal Feirste on Saturday 15th November. Should be a great night with the Dubs v Uladh. Raise awareness about Motor Neurone Disease @deterMND

I'm going along with the Brother in Law(Dublin) and his daughter(Down). Few others should hopefully be coming too wearing a selection of GAA, Rugby and local Soccer shirts/scarves, as requested.

All joking aside, and i am asking this genuinely, why is it Dublin that they are playing and not the all ireland champs?

You don't try to milk the dry cow when there is one closer which has a bountiful yield.

Liam id say its about generating awareness and where better to start than inviting the big City up to get involved

Liam,

The game was organized last November. At that stage Dublin were the All Ireland champs. Hopefully a few from the capital can make the journey. Only about 1hr50 mins

dont think it will be a serious match in all honesty
they are playing on a rugby pitch
so hardly going to be 15 a side even at that rate

I'll be going as I'm in Belfast the weekend.

What's the story RE the rugby ground. Better off on Public Transport or driving and parking. Would rather the public transport as a few pints may be had!

MesAmis, the one thing that alarmed me about this event was the fact that travelling supporters would be completely oblivious to the geography of this part of Belfast.

The ground is situated between the Ravenhill Road and Cregagh Road. Without getting into the politics of it all, I would very much recommend approaching the ground from the Ormeau Road side and making the short walk to the ground from there via Park Road - you should google map this to get an idea of what I mean. Using public transport from the City Centre this would mean taking a 7A bus. If there are a number of you travelling it would be as cheap to just get a black taxi to the Ormeau Road.

In terms of drinking beforehand and afterwards, I would suggest the Hatfield Bar or Rose & Crown bar as they are GAA friendly and will not worry about you wearing Dublin gear. The Errigle Inn and The Pavillion are much closer to the ground and are both decent pubs but I am unsure if you will be allowed entry with GAA gear on.

DO NOT GO INTO ANY BARS ON THE RAVENHILL ROAD OR CREGAGH ROAD WEARING GAA GEAR.

Grma man.

I'm in Belfast the night before for a birthday of a mate. Probably be go for a few beers in town centre before heading out to the game and then back into town afterwards is my guess. There'll be a number of Dubs up so we'll probably just get a taxi if it isn't too far.

Yeah don't wanna go in anywhere we're not welcome, although as Dubs that often doesn't leave us with much options! ;)

Very good advice from maor_uisce.

Please don't let this stop you from going though. The game is there because Casement is closed. There will be a great atmosphere on the night too.

Very cheap for a taxi out to the ground but if going for a pint outside the City center, the flags, painted kerbstones or lack of same should direct you to the best pub. The ones named above are all good.

Enjoy the occasion

The Parador on Ormeau Road will be welcoming to GAA folk, it shows all GAA games and Bredagh GFC adorn the walls. It is also within walking distance (7A from the City Centre as previously mentioned.) It is hard to know what stance The Errigle and The Pavilion will take. I think both allow sports jerseys on 'normal' game days so they should also allow GAA jersies for this event. Probably the most convenient places for food as well so they will be passing up a lot of business if not.

The Parador is a great shout which I overlooked, it is a safe bet in terms of location/access to the ground and if you are getting the 7A bus just tell the driver that is where you are looking to get off.

They do show GAA in the Pavillion and Errigle. There's a framed, signed An Dún shirt on the wall in the Pav and it is fractionally closer but I can't remember seeing anyone wearing a GAA geansaí in there. Errigle only seems to permit Ulster rugby colours when I think about it, but it is an Ulster match in Ravenhill/kingspan, so it's probably fine. Parador is the main GAA bar on the upper Ormeau for sure and is just up the street from the other 2.

Yeah, good call about avoiding the Cregagh and lower Ravenhill, unless you have your Glentoran colours on :)
