I sincerely hope that the Dublin rep voted to keep it in Croker as the Dubs have to look after the season ticket holders who they have contracted with to provide free entry to round 1 LSFC. Would have been difficult to achieve this in Pearse or O'Connor park with 14K season ticket holders amongst the Dub attendees.
Is there a source for that figure of 14k holders? I know Dublin have their own scheme as well as the GAA's Season Ticket but 14,000 seems to be a very high figure.

1670481 A decision completely driven by money...all the Leinster counties are looking for a piece of the financial pie from croke Pk fixtures...this males a mockery of a so called open and fair competition...when I see the Longford chairman more or less shrugging his shoulders and saying you can't have a game in Longford with a ten thousand capacity, I really wonder what is going on....if a ground can only hold five thousand go ahead and play it...it is farcical how in some provinces the team drawn out of the hat first does not even get home advantage...how did Meath warrant home advantage against Wicklow..they were second out of the hat....the provincial championships are becoming more ludicrous and farcical with the fixture scheduling fiasco we are witnessing
steady on there man. first off the longford guy was actually looking for the game in longford a few weeks back but he realises the fact that the ground cannot cater for a game between longford and dublin you cannot run a season ticket scheme or parnell park pass scheme guarnateeing people entry to championship matches and then turn around and play matches in venues that cannot cater for the amount of season ticket holders alone now to say meath didnt deserve a home leinster championship match is madness meath havent played a leinster championship match in navan since 1995 they played wicklow in aughrim the last twice they met despite aughrim being too small in my view to hold them so you can hardly argue with the game being in navan

i think there is 10 thousand gaa season ticket holders and 5 thousand parnell park pass holders both schemes were sold out last year and were only open to renewals this year

a match is a match or do you have to travel further or more uncomfortably to championship games as opposed to league ones plus i see you ignored my sensible repost to your one game theory

I've found last year's release on the GAA website: http://www.gaa.ie/gaa-news-and-videos/daily-news/1/1411131240-gaa-season-ticket-for-2014-launched/
From my reading of that there are 14,000 GAA Season Ticket holders nationwide across both codes. I've no doubt the Dublin footballers have a sizeable fraction of that but I doubt their numbers signing up to the GAA's scheme are anywhere near 10,000.

Meaths first home game in 20 years lad. And we played Wicklow away last year. Only Kildare deserve a home game more than us.
And hill there are 14,000 season ticket holders in the GAA as a whole not Dublin. You would have a lot more than any other county but nowhere near that. I do agree Longford capacity is just too small but they could nominate Portlaise as their home ground. 27k would be plenty for a first round match.

There were two hats. Team drawn out first is irrelevant.

Portlaoise would have been a perfect solution to this game, be it Offaly or Longford. However the GAA in their infinite wisdom want to justify the inflated price of 25 euro for a croke park double header rather than 20 euro for a single stand alone football quarter. Hoping the Dublin /Galway hurling game has more appeal than this years Louth/ Kildare clash to dubs and neutrals alike

Maybe the Gaa season ticket holders isn't as high but I'm nearly sure they said for last years all Ireland final that we had 15 thousand tickets between the Parnell pass the hill16 season ticket and the Gaa season tickets schemes So maybe the Parnell pass has more than 5 thousand

Jack Goff Portlaoise wouldn't be allowed hold anywhere near 27 thousand these days with health and safety. Although the recent Dublin championship final saw health and safety go out the window as the capped attendance was supposed to be 7 thousand these days but a full house of 10 thousand was in the ground with people having to sit on the steps in the stand and all. They should have fixed this double header for the bank holiday Monday which is the very next day, the Gaa really are missing a trick by not using the bank holiday Mondays. Perfect launching pad for the provincial championship in June and the all Ireland in August

What do posters think is a genuine alternative to Croker for the Dubs when playing in Leinster. We want to travel but the numbers dont add up with grounds in Leinster and what they can hold at the moment. , I really hoped but deep down knew we wouldnt get a first round match in Leinster away in 2015. It aint going to happen but in truth a 35,000 seater is needed in another county in Leinster if Dublin are to be playing away. Maybe Kildare ,Meath could have a ground they could use for Championship and we could drop in every now and again to fill it ;)

Leinster counties had the chance to move Dublin away from Croke Park and voted against it, end of story, only 2 options left: No 1, if Dublin are suppose to be the 'away' team then the home team take 75% of the gate money, No 2, force the Dublin supporters to travel out to the M50 and get them used of being stuck in traffic and entry to the champ matches have to used 3 hrs before the game for example a 4pm game supporters have to be in the grounds by 1pm

Two hats in what is supposed to be an open draw???......I rest my case.....so it,s OK for Meath to get a home draw after twenty years but it,s not OK for the dubs to have to travel to a smaller venue for the first time in 17 years....you Leinster boys really have a bit of sorting to do with your farce of a provincial championship

To be fair it makes economic sense to play the Dubs games in Croker.
