a nice acknowledgement of what was a very positive year.

Congrats on the 2 all-stars, well deserved.

.. failing to get out of division 1b, 4 championship games played, 2 two - lost 2. I thought 2013 was a positive year for Limerick but I'm not sure if they really kicked on this year. Next year is a big year for ye - when Limerick are doing well the Championship usually takes on a different dimension.

I factored that in before posting, but I disagree with you totally. There was a lot of strife going on at the start of the year, and they came through that well. Playing in 1B has not hindered our championship performances over the past two years. We were a bit off in the Munster final, but the performances in our other three games filled me with pride. We played fantastically against Kilkenny in the SF, and personally I would say seeing a big performance from us in Croke Park was far more satisfying than 2013, even if it did end in defeat. Quite hopeful for 2014.

I'm not overly bothered about all stars. kilkenny players unlucky to miss out might be eoin murphy in goal who I think is a better goalie than darren gleeson but missed leinster final and all Ireland semi with injury. gleeson probably got it after donal og drooling about his puck outs against cork. jackie t unlucky too but they were always gonna give left corner to seamus hickey after his semi final display against us. conor fogarty did a great job in midfield this year doing the defensive dirty work but mcgrath pops up with the odd spectacular point which stands out more. the unluckiest kk player is richie power. he was outstanding in both finals. indeed if they gave a motm award for both finals combined I think he would've won it. putting in an horrific performance in the all Ireland semi cost Cork any chance of an all star, despite winning Munster. same thing happened Tipp in 2012.

A Kerry hurler should have come into consideration after winning Division 2A.

2nd top scorer in championship hurling 2014 - Paul 'Shorty' Shiels. Process is lacking transparency. They should have guidelines e.g. based on 4 semi finalists. Kilkenny should have had the majority.

I'm sure they were considered but just weren't good enough.

Would have gone with this side myself:

Gleeson (TY)
Murphy (KK), Delaney (KK), Hickey (LK)
P Maher (TY), Ellis (CK), Buckley (KK)
Ryan (LK), Hogan (KK)
Reid (KK), P Maher (TY), O'Dwyer (TY)
Fennelly (KK), Callanan (TY), Dowling (LK)

It would have been fairer team, in my view, on the performances this year. Ellis was the best CB this year, and more consistent than Brendan Maher.
McGrath got more scores than Ryan, but Ryan played better than Shane McGrath overall, especially in the tighter games against Tipp, Cork and Kilkenny (where he was immense).

Apart from that it was a toss-up for goalie between Gleeson and Murphy. Murphy was better overall, but Gleeson played more games and did the the business in them as well so well deserved for me.

Both the football and hurling are a farce,

you are an All-Star based on your performances for August and September

Donaghy got an All-star at full-forward based on 2 full matches!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The All-Stars are a joke for years. Brian Whelehan won hurler of the year in 1994 & still did not win an all-star.....
The so called experts who pick these each year do not have a clue.
Thought that Lee Chin could have got one at midfield alongside Richie Hogan all the same.

Lazy comment to say that the so called experts dont have a clue.I think 12/13 of the positions are perfectly valid, with just 2/3 really up for debate.

Actually, the more I think about it, the more of an anomaly Richie Power's omission appears. I mean, has it ever happened before that a player scores goals in an All Ireland semi final, final and final replay (and not just the third goal in a 10 point win kind of goal - absolutely crucial, critical, game-changing goals) and not got an all star?

DCB McGrath got an All star cos tipp made the final but after this year is there one poster here who would pick McGrath or Chin before JAmes Ryan (especially since Ryan played Chin off the field in thurles only 2 monhts ago).

Im not saying the above cos Im a limerick man. On his league performance I was sayin that I didnt think he should make the limerick team but for me after Hogan he is the stand out man at midfield. Not put out that McGrath got in before him cos that they way All Stars go but if Chin got one before him Id be gob smacked.

Lads McGrath got it but the only player hard done by because of this is Fogerty of KK, did a lot of the donkey work for Hogan this year blocking and hooking and working back. I can't agree about Power because who would you leave out.
