Scrap the All Stars

I'm shocked we didn't get more TBH. A.O'Mahony defo deserved one over that dub wing back..shocking decision..how could they say McCarthy had a better year then O'Mahony. Also for those saying that'STAR' didn't deserve one, ye need to cop on a bit. The all stars should be for players on the big occasions..not playing well in a 16 point win against laois. Donaghy is the reason we won the all ireland and fully deserved his award.

Unfortunately the All Star award lost their appeal many years ago due in no small part to the fact that if you don't get one this year when you deserve it, you will be fitted in next year, players can be picked in a position that they haven't really play in and that your county team has to reach the All Ireland semi final or final in order for the player to be given a chance of winning. I could be wrong but I thought the All Stars were devised to give an individual an award in recognition of an individual players brillance regardless of how their county performed - it is sad to think that players like Niall McNamee (Offaly), Paul Bardin (Longford) and from own county Leighton Glynn have never had a chance to win an All Star, not because they didn't have enough skill but purely on the basis of how their county performed. Would any one say that Niall McNamee wouldn't win an All Star tomorrow if he was playing for a county that was competing for the All Ireland?
