The best footballer in the country right now, why wouldn't he be , sure his father is a Kilkenny man.

Eh,yeah richie,so where did he get his footballing skills from then, certainly wasn't the Kk genes.
Mind you he is a fine hurler too.

Just a bit of sarcasm for a Friday Slly. Any truth in the rumor his mother has Kerry connections?

Well done to the lad, he seems a good bit of craic from what interviews ive seen.
Great year for him and definetly wouldnt begrudge him the honour.

JOD is a class player, Connolly will take the crown next year if the dubs win. Roll on 2015.

JOD is a type of lad who wants All Irelands not individual honours, which is a might trait in a man

the performance of players is all relevant to the standard of players they played against..club football is nothing compared to county therefore it having no bearing on the player of the year award..which only applies to the football championship..as for donaghy..the man proved instrumental in kerry winning the all ireland and was back to his unmarkable best..people can keep going on about the games he missed but what did he actually miss?...few easy kerry wins that were always going to happen outside of the cork game..its the games in which he performed that counted therefore deserving of his all star

Connolly is the most talented Dublin player i've had the privilege of watching over the years. He is in possession of the full array of skills required and is a natural athlete in terms of power and pace. He is a very handy hurler too. He is without doubt among the elite bracket of players in the country right now and i don't think that is really up for debate.

In terms of being the best i would actually side more with the non Dublin posters on this topic. At this juncture i don't think he can be labelled the best right now and i say that because i feel he has not reached his potential of turning out such performances that would be worthy of that accolade.

At 27 and entering his prime i would envisage Connolly as front and centre in terms of the Dublin attack in the future. I would envisage him at 11 and building the forward unit around him. I would see him as the go to man in the way Alan Brogan was is in 2011. I would see him bringing Ciaran Kilkenny along leaps and bounds and i would envisage a more clinical Connolly in terms of shot-score ratio.

It should be remembered that for the past few years Connolly under successive Dublin managers has effectively been played out of position. Now the time has come to move him to the centre of the Dublin attack and speerhead at least another All Ireland title before he retires.
