He is certainly a very talented player. But I'd reserve judgement on how great he is until I see him producing the same form in Aug or Sept
I remember him playing exceptional v Tyrone in 2011 and he had a good 15 mins v Donegal this year but can't recall too many other stand out performances at the business end of the season
Anyone can spend hours on YouTube watching top players taking the Micky out of non county club players
Colin Corkery did it for years , Joyce is still doing it

Last years semifinal against kerry he stood up when needed. In the All Ireland final against kerry in 2011 he kept possession at vital times.

Connolly has always had the skill,and i agree its a lot easier to do showboating against club teams. but Connolly is doing more than that he is putting in serious performances and is winning games on his own for his club that are AllIreland club Champions. He is also doing it at inter county.For me he is the best player in Ireland at the moment .

Don't agree the opposition needs to be taken into account
What he done yesterday was give an exhibition in long distance point scoring , that don't become any easier or harder no matter what team you play against, you still kick the same size ball between the same size posts.
And if anything ballyboden defended superb throughout that match and even with connolly on form were only two points behind with 7 mins to go.

quite enough did he not kick 5 points in the first 20 minutes? and should have scored a goal to kill the game off.
its called player of the year for a reason the best player of 2014
not the best player of september as you seem to feel it should be.
he was playing at the same level in january to march for vincents
then came back into dublin team a week later and kept that form up all summer
then went back to vincents and continued it
that merits more a player of the year than somebody who performs in an all ireland semi final
and final only as you seem to feel.
if thats the case then declan browne of tipp never deserved an all star as he didnt get into august
or matty forde or mark lynch shouldnt even be nominated off derry. lynch was superb for derry all year and in my book fully deserves to be in the running for an all star regardless of how his county fares

ROS 1, Dermie was one of few Dubs to perform well against Donegal so not sure what point you are making. He has been brilliant all year. His performance in AI club final was one of greatest ever, and he has been absolutely brilliant for Vinnies in Dub championship - 1 - 6 on Saturday!

And yet Oisin McConville does not rate him in top three! Oisin needs to move on from when Vinnies handed Cross their bottoms on a plate a few years back :-)

COnnolly and Flynn are sheer class in my opinion, split only by Murphy in my opinion!! i honestly feel the rest of the dublin forwards are miles and i mean country miles off these two lads!! Bernard Brogan isnt in the same county as some people once though he was (i never rated him) seperate point that really..

On the whole id agree Connolly is the best footballer in the country at the minute and by some distance!!

Connolly is the best in the business, some of the scores he took on saturday at parnell park were ridiculous. Went to curl it on his left dragged it back beating the defender then went outside of the right all in a fluid movement from 40 plus yards. He makes it look effortless when on the ball.Also has a bit of that Roy Keane madness about him which is seen in quite a few top sportsmen
