Congrats to that fantastic Cork team especially thsoe superhuman duel players who have won everything so many times over and over. Their hunger cancelled out an awful lot of good Dublin football. Dublins problems have unfortunately not been addressed in last 3 years, shocking kick-outs and changes way way too late for some old tired legs, this was lost on the sideline as it has been last 3 years. But what a fantastic performence from Dublin in a great game full of honest fair play. Cork worthy mighty champions, Dublin back to the drawing board.

what is it with this group of players they just cannot seem to play for the full 60 minutes
for 45 minutes it was like watching a parade
dublin dominated all areas of the park
particularly centre field
were time and time again noelle healy turned over possesion along with carla rowe
almost paul flynn like
lyndsey peat was running amoke and took her two goals superbly
sinead ahearne was destroying the cork full back line
and nothing was getting past sinead goldrick in the centre of the dublin defence
then cork got a daylight robbery of a goal
there was a clear third person tackle to take the dublin defender about to challenge the goal scorer for the ball out of it.
when you consider all day if you laid any sort of hand on a girl the ref was calling it a free it was disgraceful to see that goal being allowed. from there in cork dominated and dublin fell asunder, just like last year and other matches between the two.
but how velery mulcahy could get woman of the match was madness
for 45 mins she was anonimous and had her share of wides in the first half
noelle healy was by far the best player on the pitch for the 60 mins

On another note what a fantastic crowd in croker yesterday
Over 27 thousand people there that's a great achievement by the ladies Gaelic football association when you consider how little limelight the event was given by the TV and media a like and the hurling final less than 24 hours before or and in both Dublin and Cork they had senior hurling championship double headers on at the same time.

Agreed. A cracking atmosphere to match the occasion.

Well done again to the Cork Ladies too!

Interesting to see so many different perspectives of the same game.

I thought Dublin were fantastic for 45 minutes but tactically they fell apart then. Instead of slowing the game down at that point and passing laterally they kept rushing headlong at Cork who then turned the ball over and punished them on the counter. Cork also won about 90% of Dublin's kickouts in the final quarter and showed great determination to get over the line. The difference, once Cork got that winning point they wound the clock down and held possession.

Well done to both teams on a cracking game.

Where were the puke football tactics when we needed them eh..?? :o)

WE BLEW IT, YET AGAIN...!

(Not impressed with the ref either in that 2nd half, but anyway, let's not go down that road....)

Fionn - funny I thought that the black arts of defending were alive and well with yer ladies in the way that they made sure the Cork lassies weren't getting too much of a run at them when they crossed over the half way throughout the game ;-).

I think that ye just ran out of steam in the end having stopped so much all day and I noticed in the final 5 to 10 mins that there were a lot of your girls doing a lot of panting and not able to catch up with the Cork girls when breaking from the full back/half back line which proved costly in the end.

I thoroughly enjoyed the game and thought that Dublin were going to hold out in the end but Cork found their shooting boots and edged home.

Yeah definitely was watching the ladies final between Dublin and Cork. Only difference as already mentioned was I was watching it as a complete neutral with not one care which side won - oh and I was sober. Just calling it as I saw it.

offside rule

i fail to see where black arts could be labelled against dublin yesterday?
some of the defending was training ground stuff to a tee, they dispossed the player in possesion time after time
by simply getting the near hand in and robbing the ball.
how can that be construed as black arts?
thats a great skill to have along with the cork girls blocking throughout the match which was perfectly executed by them
on numerous occasions.

well then you had to have seen the third person tackle by a cork girl on the dublin defender about to tackle the goalscorer
for the first cork goal? didnt hear any mention of it from your netral point of view

Hill I have to agree about the third man tackle for Cork goal, it was so blatant, poor girl never recovered, no idea what ref was looking it.

A huge congrats to the Cork Ladies, that was the greatest comeback I have even witnessed in an All Ireland final. This team never fails to inspire and deserve more credit than they have received over the years. Team of the decade...

Hill - I have no doubt that it was straight from the training ground as it looked like they had been told to make sure and stop those Cork lasses and 'the black art of defending' was in relation to a comment someone had made on a different post a while back. Of course Cork weren't angels either I just thought that Dublin were better drilled in being told to stop them. Nothing wrong with it as I would tell any team I was in charge of to make sure and stop the opposition before they get over the half way but lets call a spade a spade and take off those blue tinted glasses ye all have on.

As for my comments about being out of breath - get yersels a copy of the game and watch the last 5 - 10 mins. There are a number of occassions where you can see Cork breaking forward and the Dublin lass chasing is losing ground by the stride and looking like she had a rough night in Coppers the night before. On one occassion towards the end two of the Dublin players even took each other out as one was chasing and all over the shop due to fatigue and pretty much took out the other one who had joined the chase.

I said it last night and im from Cork. However I also said the second Dublin goal should have been disallowed, Lynsey Peat completely pushed the defender off as she was running through, so they kinda cancelled each other out (I know that's not the point). One worrying part of the game is that it is getting more physical, ladies football is in theory still a non contact game.

And Hill - there was a lot of other things went on I could have mentioned from my neutral point of view but you and yours probably wouldn't have liked them either so I'll leave it at what I have already posted.
