Gaelic football in serious trouble

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

I turned over to the City Chelsea game after and the pundits were going on about what a brilliant game of defensive tactical football it was, how both teams defended well as a unit etc etc... sadly in Gaelic football good defending is rarely recognized, when people mention the best players they are nearly always midfielders, forwards or attacking wing backs. For me yesterday the highlight of the game was a diving block by one of the Kerry defence late in the game, was absolutely superb. One of the biggest problems with the current state of the game if managers encouraging players to only shoot from within the "scoring zone". Intercounty footballers should have no problem kicking the ball over the bar from 35 yards out, I was a very average club player and would back myself, but county players nowadays are encouraged to get the ball in round the D before shooting to maximize the chance of scoring
