Player of the year for me is the answer to the question "who is the player who has had the most influence in this year's championship?" And the answer to that question, in his 2 games and 10 minutes of play, is Ciaran Donaghy...Player of the Year. PoolSturgeon (Galway) - Posts: 1907 - 21/09/2014 18:37:25 1654606 Link 0 |
I'm biased but for me it's Neil McGee. Kept Conor McManus, Jamie Clarke and Bernard Brogan quiet and OUTSCORED the favourite for the POTY today. What more can you ask of a full back? benjyyy (Donegal) - Posts: 1422 - 21/09/2014 18:52:22 1654636 Link 0 |

Ffs Bengy he has a lot of help when there's 14 lads beside him, Connolly was outstanding all year. clondalkindub (Dublin) - Posts: 9926 - 21/09/2014 19:14:57 1654668 Link 0 |

Clondalkindub - I'm pretty sure theres 14 lads helping out every player on the pitch on every team no?? I know you're not a fan of Donegal, but try and show a bit of objectivity and give a bit of credit when it's due. Diamond Connolly poty in my opinion. James o Donohue and Neil McGee two other contenders HandballRef (Donegal) - Posts: 520 - 21/09/2014 19:35:46 1654707 Link 0 |
Without a doubt James O Donoghue is FOTY throughout the whole championship season. To suggest somebody else is absurd. maximus02 (Longford) - Posts: 169 - 21/09/2014 19:40:11 1654720 Link 0 |
It has to be James O'Donoghue. Former_Poster (Meath) - Posts: 394 - 21/09/2014 19:40:45 1654721 Link 0 |
Without a doubt, James O'Donoghue, I would go as far to say he had it wrapped up before the All-Ireland Final, regardless of how he played. To score 4.24 is phenomenal at inter-county level, the vast majority coming from play. He gave a number of memorable performance and stood up to the plate without the Gooch and made it a summer to remember. Don't get me wrong Connolly and Flynn were outstanding but both had average Leinster finals against a poor Meath side, but for me its O'Donoghue and well done to him on winning his first All-Ireland. lifebuoy (Cavan) - Posts: 628 - 21/09/2014 19:46:02 1654734 Link 0 |
David Moran or James O'Donoghue. O'Donoghue has been the marquee player, but Moran is the reason why Kerry were able to power to the final and he had another solid performance today. Connolly will probably be the 3rd nomination, but I can't see him winning it. bob_dolphin (Limerick) - Posts: 694 - 21/09/2014 19:50:51 1654739 Link 0 |

But max he did nothing in the biggest game of all compare to Connolly who was unreal against the blanket. I'm sorry man I like Donegal people I just think the blanket is the death of our game and find it very hard to give credit to a back who has so much cover and help from 13 other players. clondalkindub (Dublin) - Posts: 9926 - 21/09/2014 19:59:35 1654757 Link 0 |
