I know it's slighty diverting from a GAA theme but it was a GAA player that was attacked here. What do Dublin posters think of what's going on in the city centre right now? It has certainly got dangerous. There are many issues at play here as Snuff says "light" policing. Zero tolerance needs to be brought in.

I have felt safer walking around Manhattan at 4:30am including riding the subway then in Dublin or hell dare I say it walking around most provincial towns in Ireland.

Yew Tree, NYC is now a lot safer because they decided to do something about it. Murder rates have gone down by something like 70%! The Care Bears will whinge that that is because there are massive numbers of people, especially from one community, locked up. Well, that is what prisons are for! This place is still in the grip of the liberal nonsense that almost destroyed the US in the 60s and 70s and 80s. Time to call a halt and start locking up these scum for good, and to ensure that we are not importing other peoples criminals.

1656098 Then again, prison is like a holiday camp. No bills, great facilities, etc. The whole penal system probably needs to be overhauled but is there the money or the will to change it?

What if every person sent to prison is billed for their prison stay, say 15,000 per year for food, water, heating, electricity and of course security personnel. Re-offend a 2nd time and go to prison, your National debt Increases to 25,000 per year. With 3rd time offenders getting mandatory 20 years without parole.

EXAMPLE
Until criminal debt is cleared, the following restrictions are imposed.
- If criminal travels in car/jeep/truck valued above 3000 euro, that motor can be seized and sold to pay debt to country.
- If criminal or spouse owns house above a certain value, It must be sold to pay debt to country.
- If criminal stays friend house or rents house valued above a certain value, then assets will be considered to belong Indirectly to criminal, and will be seized to cover debt to country.
- Motors/property in name of spouse/partner or co-habitant person will be assumed to be Indirect property of criminal and thus seized to pay back debt to country.

Listen I agree bring in zero tolerance by all means. Make the city centre as safe as possible, I'm all for that, however do it right, police and protect everyone not just the middle classes, don't just push the problem away from the city centre so it doesn't affect yous.

The problems need to be fixed not just shunted outta sight.
